145 * f, just below knee.

Thumbless bw hangs, 30s - 3 sets.

1 hand axle side deadlifts

60 * 1, 1, 1 - 3s hold.

Final grip session, the 145 was a PB attempt, think id probably have had it if i hadnt done the 125s first, but what can you do?

1 final session tomorrow night then 3 days of stretching before comp.

MJG said:The good news for us Brits in Savatinov not going is that it moves Felix up into the top 5 returning guys from last year. Usually (although admittedly not last year when Hall and Burke were both put in group 5)the top 5 returning guys are seeded so they avoid each other. If the organizers revert back to that practice Felix will avoid Shaw, Thor, Hall and Caron.

Fe should be safely seeded anyway. Past years have seen the top 2 brits get relatively comfortable groups, and despite loz and terry both beating him at europes Felix 2nd place at Brits back in January should mean he still technically gets one of the brit seed spots.

Do we have confirmation of which brits are going? Basically has Stoltman took the final Brit invite? Or will Bish get one also?

Incline press

100 * 5, 120 * 3, 130 * 1,
105 * 5, 125 * 3, 135 * 1,
120 * 5, 130 * 3.

1 clean log press

85 * 3, 3,
105 * 2, 2.

Just focusing on speed tonight, and exploding off the chest. All moved rapidly.

Even on those events Adam Shaw is still very capable of a win. He would win stones and truck. He would beat ed on frame, and at worst take 2nd on deadlift. It would just depend how many got between them on squat and log. I dont think there would be more than 3 men between them.

PaulSavage said:If the barbell is reps ed could possibly win if he does well on Kettlewell throw. I've never seen him lose grip on anything as far as I can think of so he should be 1-2 on frame then and Shaw has always done bad at it. Might be hard to get back points.

Frame will almost certainly allow straps, they did in america and at Europes, so grip wont be a factor. And as much as i like Ed i cant see him getting top 2 in a moving event against Thor, Shaw and quite possibly Loz and Hollands.

always wondered why Mark Felix hasnt achieved this level with his 12inch mitts.

congrats Terry

He has. He held the DOH axle record before Burke i believe. Just dont think he has tried for it again in recent years.

Great lift from Terry.

Harness chain drag, 15m - 3 sets.

Tyre flip

280 * 2, 2, 5, 5.

Frame carry

235 * 20m,
275 * 20m, 20m.

Final events session ahead of elites, just making sure everything felt solid.
Prep hasnt been as good as i would've liked, but i feel in decent shape and think i should still be good to get one of the qualifying spots.

Deadlifts

260 * 3,
300 * 2,
320 * 1,
280 * 2, 2, 2.

Parallel grip chins, 5, 5, 5.

Beltless pendlay rows

100 * 10, 10, 10,
140 * 3, 3, 3.

Fairly happy with todays session. Knew i needed to get up to at least a 320 single to have some confidence heading into Elite Englands next week.
The rep was a bit slow, but i definitely had a 2nd one there if not for the plates falling off. Then dropped down and hit some doubles, final set was the fastest.
Starting to feel like training is back on track after moving house and getting used to training in the garage.
Pressing on for tomorrow.

JamieG said:Why do they allow competitors to consume enough vitamin-s to kill an elephant if they choose, but not have a spliff?

Because drugs are bad.

They dont allow the use of vitamin t, and if it was proven someone was using theyd probably be stripped of their result. They simply choose not to test beyond a basic drug test.
If they fail they are out, if they pass then the organisers can say they tested the athletes and found them drug free. It gives plausible deniability if someones heart explodes during a filmed comp.

** the above is all complete bulls**t that just came to mind as i was typing. It makes a certain kind of sense though, so im sticking with it.

Assisted squats, 2 * 3.

Front squats

100 * 2, 2,
140 * 2, 2,
180 * 2, 2, 2, 2, 2.

Squats

180 * 1.

My knees hate me. Forgot to take any anti inflammatories pre training and was made to regret it.
That said im fairly happy with how manageable front squats felt and that i got a decent volume of them in. Had hoped to do 5 * 5 squats, but my knees squealed their protests on the first rep so i called it. Will try to get them in either after deadlifts tomorrow or with pressing on Saturday.

Its possible. He had a huge frame. Terry is about the only human ive met who had such a huge presence, and i firmly believe Terry when he says he did his first final natural.

That said it could equally be bulls**t, especially since Phisters job, like Mr Kelseys, would be gone if it was proven he used.

Well why didn't they use a regular bar?

Because it isnt a powerlifting comp. Strongman comps are made to look visually impressive. Big bendy bars look cooler.

Was it on a longer than normal bar then?

No. Standard bar, and calibrated plates, just like each of the last two years.

Saying its not a deadlift is beyond ridiculous. It may not be a powerlifting deadlift, but thats entirely different. This is roughly the same as saying an f1 car isnt a car, it may not be a car everyone can get in and drive to the shop, but its definitely a car.
