Just wondering, I train, then 2 days later I get the DOMs, like at the moment my legs are hurting like crazy. So does this mean my muscles have been damaged and are repairing and If I eat well, sleep well that they will repair stronger or will they just maintain where they were. Basically I’m asking the worst the DOMs the better/stronger the muscles will be, or am I over simplifying things.

Also if you plateau do you get less DOMs?

The presence or abscence of DOMS has no link to whether your training is effective or ineffective.

Do 500 bench jumps. I did that once, genuinely had to crawl upstairs for a week.

Didn't help my squat though IIRC...

Your punishment must be more severe.

Performing function you are not accustomed to.

This could include:

Adding load to an existing exercise pattern
Increasing frequency of an existing exercise pattern
Performing an unfamiliar movement
Working past MMF

etc etc etc

OK, forgive the questions, but I pretty much always get bad DOMs from squatting and I like squatting, so as such I'm not doing anything new. So from what you say am I over loading the weight and should go lighter (I only do 5 x 5, so I can really cut that down, well much)?

No no, overloading is a principle of progression when used correctly. As long as you're maintaining good technique keep adding weight and squatting. After all you're looking to stimulate adaptation.

Keep going kidder.
