This is a good point i guess.
I cant jerk well, so dont mind if they drop it, none of the current records are jerked anyway, so it would make no difference to that.
If I was poosed with the choice of dropping jerks, or allowing sumo, i would be dropping the jerk in a heartbeat

I'd allow sumo. No major DL record in PL is sumo anyway, with the exception of Ed Coan's of course.

I've said this before - press/jerk from behind neck is a TERRIBLE strongman TEST.
OK to watch though.

At the end of the day there's technique involved in every event, if we didn't allow things that make it easier we all look like t**ts.
I think sumo should be allowed from standard height simply because it's a deadlift technique used in powerlifting, why only allow half of the legal techniques if your gonna take an event from another sport? I certainly think it would be more interesting for joe bloggs to watch with there being more than one technique used.

Four out of six world records (IPF) are sumo pullers.

I cant see sumo realy being used in strongman as it only realy suits the smaller lifters and its not realy the best way to deadlift but id rather see it than seing the bad form hitching like someone having a spacker attack.
Jurking on OH press well it does look the more gracefull way to do it, and im sure the only people who moan about it are the ones that cant do it and get beaten by them that can, the same with the no hitching and no straps on deadlift, you only moan because you cant do it without.

For me, adding more rules to strongman (and any sport really) pretty much always seems like a bad idea. Weight goes from a to b in the fastest time, most reps, weight etc. when people start getting failed reps for a dip in the knees it just gets confusing for the average spectator. If athletes can't be bothered to work on things like flexibility, technique and timing more fool them, they will be beaten by those that do!

This!
Should logs lifts off the head be allowed again like the good old days?

Didn't you hit a axle PB this year with some technique work as apposed to the previous year where you could strict press your push press ?

Okay, so they won't "always be beaten"... but if I am beaten by someone with better techinque it is faitr enough!

I was talking about the "cant be bothered bit" more so....
Shane - I have always used PP and strict...I've never done any specific technique work...no!

One of the great things about strongman comps of course is they are not satnadardised... one of the main concerns is fair and consistent reffing, and the fewer rules the better the chances of that happening.
