Pro's and cons' on which one to use would be helpful, even though the gym i use isn't at all happy about us using the powder stuff, they do let us. Just thought we'd be considerate if we were to use the liquid stuff (is there much difference, before i buy some).
Cheers Lads.

I don't use chalk whilst lifting as even my heaviest rack pulls ever were only 240kg but I've used normal and liquid chalk on the climbing wall. I found liquid chalk to be much tidier but I think that normal chalk gives me better grip.Liquid chalk aint bad at all though. I imagine it'd be fine with a well knurled bar.

Liquid chalk is by far the best, but qworks out expensive

also needs to be applied 2-3 mins before event to have time to dry

Liquid chalk can ruin bars. Ive been the one trying to use an iron brush on it and it would'nt come out of the knurling. 4 of the uni bars got ruined when we started to sell it. Its now banned. Nothing wrong with normal chalk

I always found liquid chalk "stickier" but I dont think it will make that much of a difference.

Liquid chalk is cheap and causes less mess (unless you drop it on the floor) I spent £8 on some from my protein and it lasted me over a year.

I bought some normal chalk from an online climbing shop some years ago.
They had a £30 minimum order to qualify for free delivery.
You get so much chalk for £30 that I'm still using it now and have several years worth left!!!!

I find the chalk blocks perfect, very little mess. I keep it in a small Tupperware box and rub it on my hands.

Strengthshop sell it cheap and they last ages. I paid £1 from go outdoors for a block and it's lasted awhile.

Another vote for normal chalk, liquid chalk is a bit rubbish IMO and does get stuck in the knurling.

Just be tidy with your normal chalk.

I've got both, i find the liquid stays on you're hands a whole lot longer and you don't have to keep applying it before lifts like you do the other chalk. Plus its not that expensive now, i just buy a bottle when i need it from myprotein.com.

Block chalk for me; dont like the liquid stuff due to the damage caused and also the time you need to hang around for it to dry...

Plus the cloud of magnesium carbonate in the air when you're walking to the lift always makes for an impressive photo haha Tongue Grin

i also much prefer regular chalk

with the liquid stuff, if you get it into an open cut or blister then it f**king kills!

also find i have to reapply it a lot more
