Carl - I didn't do a lot of work, just a few light sets to try the suit out. Taking time off before a comp makes sense, you're resting up for a big single, but I don't see any real reason not to start back training as soon and much as you're able. Of course I know very little, but I suspect Alan does . | ||

Carl - I don't see why one should take long after a comp, it makes sense to taper before it but afterwards you should be fresh to start with the rep work again? Obviously you don't want to do too much the day after it! | ||

Bench 20x20 50x8 first and last paused throughout 70x5 80x3 90x3 at this point Pete arrives and hands me a shirt 100x2 110x1 120x1 127.5x1 135x1 SHIRT ON 150x3 high 150x3 high 155 ooh f**k - lost thie on the way down back towards my face a little on the right side, fortunately Joe and Pete are pros 145 first high, second touched!! 145x2 second nice 145x1 145x1 GOOD 145x1 not quite as good, leave it now. Next week we aim for three s**t-hot reps at 145 then go up. 3-Board press (first time doing boards) 130x3 I like this 140x3 a lot 145x3 150x3 easy easy plenty more there I suspect but told to stop. Incline Smith Bench alternating in with Joe with no rest 60x5 80x5 90x5 100x5 More cardio required! Power snatch first from floor, rest from hang 20x5 20x5 40x5 start each set as soon as I can speak normally again 40x5 40x5 40x5 40x5 now for some fun! 50x1 60x1 muscle snatch 60x1 a bit better but not really as good as I'd like. Enough. I snatch better from the hang than the ground, by miles. I have shirt stigmata on the back of my arms now. But I like this. I like it a lot . | ||

I shall be doing so again from Monday .The shirt was fun once I started to get the hang of it and stopped being scared. The snatches were tremendous fun. I know from an experienced equipped lifter's perspective the shirt's far too big for me, BUT I think it makes sense to learn in it, and it looks like Alan is going to want me to compete in it in 6 or 7 sessions' time - so I need one I can get a safe opener and preferably another two pretty damned safe lifts in! This definitely fits the bill, and thanks to Pete the price was right too . | ||
