It's a Titan Fury NXG+, 56" (I'm about a 51" chest so it's not exactly tight by most standards Happy).

I know you want to learn the shirt Rick but I think that if you touched with 140ish then its way to big. You might not want to go super tight but you want it tight enough so you get something out of it.

Tony - I will consult with the boys and see what I think. As much as it's marked my arms I think it must be giving me something Happy.

Rob - I am just loving it right now, and pretty much have been since I came to Adlington. It's awesome.

Rick! Your squat and bench looked piss easy. Seriously, piss easy.

What's it like deadlifting in a comp after 6 previous lifts?

Great to see you on, Jo. Moving to Adlington has made me suck slightly less, it's true Happy.

They were, though you can see the squat just falling off line. Once I got to the heavier ones that was enough to drop me in the hole. Of course that's the point of an opener - take a weight you can f**k up and still get.

The bench... well, I've tripled it in the gym t&g, it should look like that! The next one up, the line and descent were fine but for some reason I tried to "push" it up rather than exploding off the chest.

The deadlifts felt fine, but then I usually deadlift after squatting in training so I'm slightly used to it. For the third meet in a row, though, I had nothing in me for the third one. That may be mental, but I'm going to concentrate on nailing slightly more DL volume and see if that helps.

Friday 18th April, Adlington

Slightly late start - 5:30 - and most people finishing up as I arrive.

Power clean first from floor, rest from hang, start next set before breathing has got back to normal
20x5
20x10
40x5
50x5
60x5
70x5
70x5
70x5
70x5
70x5 missed the last one here, did it again from the floor.

Tried hook grip on these, felt profoundly odd but I did notice the difference. The last few reps of the last set got kind of "army" as I lost my speed. Very hard work in a fitness way Happy.

Push press from racks for the first time!
20x5 moved my grip out a bit and hurray, sits comfortably on my collarbone
40x5
50x5
60x3
70x2
80 dumped without attempting press - the same old problem, could not get any air.

Interesting.

Speed Squats
20x5
20x5
70x5
115x2 roughly a minute to a minute and a half between sets
115x2
115x2
115x2
115x2
115x2 the last other trainer present goes
115x2
115x2 sweating again by now Happy.

Setting up by feel without looking down, then just looking down to check foot position. Was starting to get it right by the end.

Speed Bench
20x20
70x3 starting each set when the minute hand points straight up
75x3
80x3
85x3
90x3
95x3
100x3
105x3 take an extra minute, then:
110x3 start a set every 90 seconds from here as I'm f**ked:
100x3
90x3
80x3
70x3.

Benching can be cardio too Happy.

Very happy with this session: lots of work, most of it felt very good, under two hours from first set to last, absolutely shagged.

Thanks Ed, it is quite a lot of work but at least it's all pretty light Happy.

Jonny - so do I! The trouble is, I can't breathe when I walk the weight out of the racks, so it's very hard to press it (suggestions on how to fix this would be very welcome). I'm pretty sure I can't do them behind the neck, just don't have the shoulder flexibility. I don't seem to have problems breathing so much when I clean it from the floor, but then I'm limited by my cleans...

Nice session!

What is it that stops you from breathing? The bar on your collarbone?

It seems to be. I don't know why. It's a problem with it in my hands or on my chest. It seems not to be a problem from the clean, but that may just be because I spend so much less time with it racked.
