gossamer | What causes a bicep to tear during a deadlift (mixed grip)? | 06-05-2011 @ 15:53

Does the injury come when there is a concentration lapse and a slight 'curl' motion happens whilst pulling, thus recruiting the bicep? In short - can it be completely avoided by using exemplary form and concentrating on not bending the elbows?

The one in the guns and roses teeshirt. At least on a standard barbell anyway, Ive heard that Axle Deadlift is more taxing on your bicep but I dont know if this is true or why.

I remember seeing a vid of a member on here and his bicep tore from the elbow as he was at the top position of the deadlift. I can't understand how it happened because the bicep is pretty much flaccid at that point?

I fear that all this paranoia will slow the lift down.

Gone and easily forgotten....... Member 331, 22298 posts SQ 185, BP 100, DL 230515.0 kgs @ 85kgs UnEq | Axle is also because of the grip factor the natural thing to do is pull a bit with your arms.

I have changed my tyre technique after seeing Wayne's pop at Cheshire's and I am also wary of strapless axle deads now... though its been a long time since I have done them anyway.

vegetarian with a big deadlift - who would have thought... Member 340, 13300 posts SQ 315, BP 190, DL 350855.0 kgs @ 110kgs UnEq | Oh, I have seen a bicep go at a powerlifting comp too. The individual was stuggling to lock out his deadlift and used a bit of biceps to try and finish the lift.
