He's BACK Member 177, 1039 posts SQ 230, BP 155, DL 300685.0 kgs @ 95kgs UnEq | For me, my goals are a 310 squat, a 190 bench press, a 310 deadlift and hopefully to do these all on the same day for an 810 total. Also to get 2nd at the wdfpf worlds (equipped) and first at the british as Matt Saunders wont be there!

I think I'm with Joni on this - though of course I would love to see these happen!

Not in Loz's top 10 uk strongmen Member 144, 4421 posts SQ 320, BP 165, DL 350835.0 kgs @ 123kgs Eq | Got to aim high guys, Im competing at Scottish level now and need to show I belong there. As for the doubts: 1/ My back squat is quite low because I usually train myself and there is no-one to push me plus I had a few technique issues. Ive started training with one of the top strongmen in Scotland and even in the 5weeks training with him squatting is improving well. 2/ Right now I back squat 220 for a double. I also just missed a 180 front squat. A 220kg front is very do able in 12 months. 3/ I havent specifically trained bench in 18months, starting to put it in as an assistance exercise on pressing days though, my 1RM bench would be significantly higher if I actually trained it. Almost hit a 120kg IFSA log, a 20kg increase in 12 months is again very do able. As for the axel that is also very do able. 4/ As for other stuff. Im planning on pulling a 290kg deadlift three weeks on Monday; 160 stone is getting easier at every attempt; 150kg farmers will be owned my early summer; 400kg yoke shouldnt be too much of a problem. Overall, when you look at my lifts just now and then think of the actual increase on them in a 12 month peroid it is all well within my limits. Im the youngest competetor competing in Scotland; I won my last com very convincenly, not just getting then win and now Im stepping upto the plate and showing everyone that I beong at the top level in Scotland and also that Im one to watch out for not only in Scotland but the UK as a whole. PS. Enough of this crakepipe s**t guys, aim as high as f**k and even if you dont get everything you'll still improve drastically!

The rest is what we call "Olly Goals" (he is like you, aim high and get higher than if you aimed low even if you miss the target).

Eat.Cycle.Sleep.Win Member 2, 12511 posts SQ 190, BP 150, DL 280620.0 kgs @ 99kgs UnEq Administrator | Ha! Joni is right. I believe some people sell themselves short with their goals and their progress suffers because of that. I like to aim high! I think a lot of it depends on your mind set. For some people having really difficult goals is whats going to get them stronger quicker, for others its a case of being slightly less ambitious but nailing those targets nevertheless. Horses for courses. What I will say though, your goals are very ambitious. I think you'll do very well to nail all of them. Do I think its impossible? Not at all. Good luck! and while im at it, good luck to everyone! There's some pretty impressive goals in the list now.

Obviously they are ambitious but that's great. As some of you know, I've got a VERY AMBITIOUS log target for late May but I have to break my back to get there. I'll write my targets in the next few days.

Not in Loz's top 10 uk strongmen Member 144, 4421 posts SQ 320, BP 165, DL 350835.0 kgs @ 123kgs Eq | Personally I wouldnt say my goals are too ambitious, they are all very do able in a 12 month period. Heres the break down: Front Squat- around a 3.5kg increase a month Deadlift- once I hit the 290 in three weeks on Monday then the next goal will be 320 for the end of the year; only a 2.5kg increase a month Pretty much everything else is roughly 20 to 30kg ontop of my current max; so thats only a maximum increase of 2.5kg a month. These small increments are nothing TBH! Also, as for the matter of getting a 140kg log with a 120kg bench; it doesnt matter what you bench in strongman, it doesnt really carry over to log press. For example, look at the difference between Joni and myself on the two lifts: Joni benches 145kg, but his log is 107.5kg where as my bench is 120kg and my log roughly between 115 and 120kg.
