But like a Silly Rodney Plonker, I neglected to play yesterday so my streak ends at 111

Still 100% win rate though

I have waited a long time for the chance to call you an oaf so I will not let it slip by.

OAF !!

That was fun

I think of many things language related but I hadn't thought of that.
Some of my favourites are - "You're not a million miles away" meaning you're very close, and other random stuff that means something different to what it appears to mean.
We used to have a linoleum lined corridor that ran from the offices and warehouse to the canteen. It was very well used and the lino duly fell to bits, it was replaced with laminated flooring.
One of the workers was admiring the new floor when the American site manager saw him and asked him what he thought of it.
"Very nice" came the reply "but if your boots are wet it isn't half slippy"
"Gonna need an explanation" replied the manager "I know what slippy means, but I never heard of half-slippy. And you aren't saying that this is half slippy but that it isn't"
That took some explaining that no Englishman would have ever needed
However I will give more thought to the excellent point you raise and thank you warmly for the raising of it.
Thank you

Oh yes, as an Irishman I always thought the British "not half" expression was quite peculiar. I've also always found "you had better.." a curious case too, surely the 'had' is superfluous?

A relatively inspired four

XYXXY
XXXXX
XYXXG

Just I was thinking "Blimey, This could be anything" The most likely ending presented itself, I greeted it warmly of course and it introduced me to a very likely option. Having no reason not to, and not wanting to appear discourteous to the newly presented option, I went ahead with happy results.

Excellent, a two gives a warm glow. I’m intrigued by what the opener was though.

An ok 3, could have been a two as my second guess was one of the words I sometimes use as an opener

Pleasing enough.

YYxxY standard first
xxxYY standard second - so now I just have to solve an anagram

I am creaking today

Squat, sleeves and boots on
20 x5
20 x 5
20 x 5
20 x 5
20 x 5
20 x 5
70 x 5
80 x 5
90 x 5
100 x 5
110 x 5
120 x 5
130 x 5

Had a chat with Mack about this, it was never going to be a full blown workout so it was just a case of how much to throttle back. This is what we decided on. Hopefully back to normal next week

A three which took in excess of twenty minutes. Easily in the top five in terms of duration required to solve. I just went completely blank for no apparent reason given that I had plenty to work with.
