Super, faster than my 100m pb are you 6' + like long legged sparrow?

I have good pulling leverages (that's my excuse for a s**t squat and decent deadlift, and I'm sticking to it) but I'm "only" 6'0".

Being taller is obviously a massive advantage of being heavier, do you know why they have a weightless rather than height class?

1 minute pb today 357m (that must be 375m with height formula conversion) Grin

I suppose it's simply because there are no other sports with height categories. And it's easier to distinguish 74.9kg from 75.0kg than it is 182.9cm from 183cm. At the last indoor worlds, I certainly felt short. Grin Some people advocate for a "midweight" category in indoor rowing, but I think that's ridiculous.

Interestingly, for the skierg it seems that weight and upper body strength matter more than height.

I shoulda when I coulda (thanks Bev)

NABBA universe used to have height classes back in the beginning of time, but I cannot think of any other sport.

However It would be harder to put on height after a "measure in" than weight like the glory lightweights do

Boar should be all over this!

74.9kg for the weigh-in, then 85kg for row time.

I am going for 74.8 to make it less obvious.

macroth said:Lever positions don't correspond exactly to drag factors. A dirty flywheel, other ergs in use nearby, placing the erg near a wall, and other things can affect the drag factor. You can check the drag factor in the "More options" menu.

http://www.concept2.com/indoor-rowers/training/tips-and-genera...

I usually use a high (180+) df for very short sprints like 100m, 150+ for a 500m, maybe 140 for a 1k, and 125-135 for 2k and anything above. In fact, I only keep a close eye on the df when I'm training for or racing a 2k. For the shorter stuff, I go a bit by feel.
If I'm doing a training piece, I use the df that I would use for the race distance that I'm training for. I.e., if I'm doing 8x500m as part of my training for a 2k, I'll use a df of 130, not 150.

Quite a lot of talk about drag factor recently on the home of rowing: Sugdenbarbell.

I found this nugget off rowing God Macroth and thought I’d share.

How you and Macroth choose to dress is your own choice.

I am reasonably old and bald, and do enjoy drag, everyone does right?

After a good clean today max drag went to about 190. Any way to increase that a bit? I enjoy the higher resistance stuff.

Did a 1 minute max today, not tried it before - 347m, better pacing should add a few more m's.

Got 1 minute 358m today. Does anyone try to pace themselves for a 1 min row, or just go full out from the start?
