JT - when you say 'flat out', do you mean at whatever stroke rate to get the fastest time? Or flat out at 20 SPM? No, I'm not using a HR monitor.

Boar - apparently, my VO2 max is 'excellent'. I'm not sure how that's happened after spending pretty much my whole adult life avoiding cardio so it didn't kill my strength gains and trying to eat as much as possible.

How much are the PM5s? Is it worth it on an old rower? I'd love a newer rower with one on really...

the PM5 is an excellent monitor and will make your rower feel all new , especially if you buy a new handle too !

when i upgraded my PM2 to PM3 i then sold the PM2 ...they go for decent money

PM5 is about 150 quid , possibly sell the PM2 for 60-100 quid

rowers are still going for silly money on ebay and the concept 2 website has now sold out of ski ergs, the least popular piece of equipment !

Flat out= as fast as you can stroke rate unlimited

My first year rowing I didn't use HR and got a couple of pbs which still stand, I shudder to think what my Hr was. Some ways it is liberating not to use it. But if you want to get a bit scientific and train in HR bands and be able to compare fitness over the weeks months years it is an essential bit of kit.

I’ll look into it Boar. It’s definitely an option rather than risk attempting to cash in on the C2 and being left without one for a few months.

I think I’d like to enjoy some blissful rowing without having another thing to think about other than my SR and pace to block out the pain.

Maybe somewhere down the road - perhaps when the ‘newbie’ gains dry up?

Found out today my max drag factor is a somewhat lowly 174!!!

What has everyone else got?

I think I can increase that by cleaning out the fan.

Cleaned it out and got up to 194

I guess it being shoved in a corner does not help.
