personally I wouldnt mix and match pressing styles in one session. it makes it confusing as you are having to think the whole time about what you are doing. better to pick the one you want to improve, work on that for a few training cycles and then switch it up when you are getting stale. that way you are embedding the technique and becoming more instinctive with it.

if you want some help with a log routine let me know mang.

Thanks for this Will.

In future, I will do push press reps on day one and push press heavier on max effort day.

I just need some practice for the time being.

But once I get my eye in, I will definitely hit you up for a programme.

SSB Box Squats against Doubled Red Bands - worked up to 110kg, but then my left knee started playing up quite badly.

Couldn't do a bodyweight squat holding the rack at this point.

Did some stiff as possible leg deads up to 180kg.

Stiff-leg RDLs up to 140kg x 5

OH Press up to 80kg. Then 50kg x 10.

TKEs - 50 x 2 sets per side. Knee felt quite a bit better after this.

Log Clean and Press:

50kg
55kg
60kg
65kg - felt great
70kg - felt awful.

Log Clean And Press against mini bands:

50kg x 1 x 10 sets.

Viking Press:

Bar x 10
20kg x 5
45kg x 5
70kg x 5
95kg x 3
120kg x 5
95kg x 6
70kg x 6, 10, 10

Iso Row Machine:

140kg x 6 x 3 sets

Facepulls:

40kg x 20 x 3 sets

Glute Extension Machine:

120kg x 10 x 3 sets

Well, the conundrum of the log press continues. The best thing I can say, is that the clean feels okay.

The pick up and the press feel crap.

My shoulders have been SCREAMING!!!

Unhappy

No pressing today.

Happy

Deads stood on green band:

100kg x 2 x 6 sets

Cambered Bar Box Squats:

140kg

Cambered Bar Zercher Good Mornings:

100kg x 6 x 3 sets

The dude from behind the counter came up to us on the second set, and said rack pulls were not allowed.

I explained that a good morning is not a rack pull.

We were lifting the bar from the J Hooks on the rack - and at no point after that (until it was re-racked) did it touch the rack (or safety pins).

I explained that at not point did the bar touch anything - and that it was no more a rack pull, than a front squat was.

He walked off. Looking someone disgruntled.

What an idiot.

Grin

Leg Press:

Up to 10 plates x 10

TKEs x 50

Top End Leg Extensions:

20 x 3 sets

Paused Iso Back Extensions:

6 x 3 sets holding 15kg dumbbells.

Bench Press.

This was a fiasco.

I am 6'7" and struggle to fit the very low height of the fixed bench presses they have at the gym. They're Watson, but they are not adjustable and the top j hook is just far too low.

We set up a bench in the rack in order to press. We removed the safety pins and started doing cambered bar presses. At no point did the bar touch the pins. Because they had been removed, prior to any lifting.
The same member of staff who didn't know what a rack pull was, told us we were doing pin presses. I pointed out that the pins had been removed and the bar was being lifted off the j hooks. I even showed him on an adjacent rack what a pin press was.
He then pointed to the gym rules board and said no benches are allowed in the rack.
Nowhere on the board does it state this. Nor has it ever.

We put everything back and did the following.

DB Bench up to 37.5kg x 8, then 30kg x 15, 10, 12

Seated Iso Rows up to 4 plates a side x 6 x 2 sets, then 3 plates x 10

Reverse Flyes x 12 x 3 sets.

Straight Arm Pressdowns: 10 x 4 sets ascending weight.

I left a rather disgruntled review on Facebook.

One of the owners of RP Fitness contacted me directly and actually asked me to select an adjustable bench from the Watson Gym Equipment website - top notch, high end gear - that would be suitable for my use. This is way beyond what I expected!!!!

I therefore amended my review accordingly.

Cheers Wayne.

He's a young lad. And clearly clueless.

Whenever a bar touches the crook of my elbow, I think of you.

Wistfully.
