Not taking away from hixxy though, exceptional performance, really enjoyed watching him Even Loz would've struggled to match Hix on that yoke. It was blisteringly quick.

True, but think back to Europe's and how fast ed was on the car, and look how quick he set off on Saturday he just couldn't sustain it. I think it would have been very close

Awesome! thanks Pete It was alot closer than scorecard suggests. I was hard done too on FWD hold had a bit of a unlike me moment rowing with Magnus afterwards lol Eddie was awesome. Just wish the mention of injuries this n that would just stop. We all get injured. I was sat on bog and head in bath tub days before with a stomach virus but I don't pipe up about that every 5 seconds!!!

AKA the great reset Member 4056, 5207 posts | Does Ed have to be injured, because Hixxy was close in some events? Or because he was faster on yoke? Hixxy is a fantastic strongman and is improving all the time. He's good enough to mix with anybody and I think Bishop is the same. Others are not too far off either!

Member 5141, 4205 posts SQ 300, BP 180, DL 350830.0 kgs @ 130kgs UnEq | I suspect Ed has to be injured because he's the reigning WSM and was beaten in several events. It doesnt look great on the sport if your super duper champion can be pushed close by relatively unknown athletes. I've had discussions on here previously about people hiding behind injuries. We all get them, no one has ever competed at 100%

We all get them, no one has ever competed at 100% He states in his book he would of won WSM in 2016, if not for the injured hand. Perhaps he wouldn't of won in 2017, if Shaw hadn't a gammy hamstring! As you allude to, just about every strongman has to compete through injuries sometime or another.

Champion of Under The Radar 105 Member 805, 5301 posts SQ 325, BP 202.5, DL 335862.5 kgs @ 105kgs Eq | Really enjoyed watching at weekend but got very bored of the eddie is injured every 5 minutes. I'm pretty sure other athletes were carrying injuries too and Didn't look injured on stones when he had to make sure he got all the stones in a fast time. Was really impressed with Hixxy, Bish and Paul, the way the contest was going I thought Hixxy was going to do it, very small magines on every event.

He will be there again this year, and quite probably the year after. I really hoped he would stick to his word and ease off for his family but it just doesnt look like it is happening.

End of an era. Member 4646, 1964 posts | Post Edited: 29.01.2018 @ 16:29 PM by Mikeneto Thor was 205kg at last year's Arnold's(March)...he squatted 440kg at 180kg in November. It maybe the difference between having a whole team behind you doing your training plan, diet and Thor trusts it.Ed seems to like the linear progression of gain weight, put more weight on the bar method. Problem is you have to keep gaining weight which isn't healthy or sustainable. Shaw has someone do his diet also and only peaks for two events. But Ed's method is working at the moment and I am glad he is in the sport, he makes comps better. Also he needs to be heavy for the log lift record.
