I believe it is far more lucrative financially for athletes if they compete at SCL regularly and place well. Glenns comp looks decent but not anywhere near wsm level yet. Although there are some good guys there there are also a few more up and coming guys. It's good to see a bit of variety rather than wsm having a total monopoly on things. Should encourage everyone involved to put on better comps. | ||

Arnold classic South American - Brazil European - Spain I think Now Asian Not sure if Australia has one...pretty sure Africa has one as well. From what I can see, the top guys seem pretty willing to compete in the Arnolds compared to SCL. | ||

 Member 5560, 769 posts | SCL is slowly splitting the sport by doing the absolutely crazy thing of organizing regular competitions and paying athletes well for it. Someone like Zageris can earn more from one days competing in SCL than he would do if he had to go to Botswana for a week for WSM. The Arnolds I think seem to be slowly replacing Giants Live contests which we see less of now. | ||

Ive never seen or even heard of a vague suggestion as to what the prize pot is at Worlds. Id expect Glens comp to have a decent purse, his UKs prize money is far from life changing, but its a hell of a lot better than most amateur comps. | ||

I can't remember where I saw it but I seem to think the prize money for winning wsm was published as being about $50,000. It must have been a few years ago as it was when met-rx were the main sponsor. I remember thinking that although it's a decent amount of cash it's a pretty low figure given that wsm is meant to be the very pinnacle of the sport. I've no idea if it would be more or less than that now but I'd imagine a fair few of the big guns like Shaw etc will get most of their money from sponsorships. | ||

I'm not sure on the winning prize money but I think it is around 2,500 euros. | ||
