The moving events would be too heavy for him nowadays, running with a 300kg yoke doesn't mean he could run with a 500kg yoke. If he bloated up to 160kg and stayed fit with it... different story! | ||

 Member 5560, 769 posts | Just to point out that Shaw didn't need Eddie to beat Z on the stones. The difference between them was only half a point. So if Shaw did give Eddie the better tacky it wasn't out of self interest. If Pudz was around now he would of trained for the current competition. His max log is low because he never had to do max logs in comp so why train it? He developed himself for the contest he was entering. In 2009 he was very close to Z despite an injury. I see no reason to think he wouldn't have been able to keep up with the sports development like Z has. | ||

It is an interesting conversation, though I generally prefer to leave people in the era they belong to. | ||

So in terms of history he's still the king of WSM. I think the winner of this years will be interesting. Z has to want 5, and Shaw is hungry for 4, while Thor and Ed just want to break the power 2 up and take their 1st. The events in the final will be crucial for those 4 guys. Who will have the most suited events. | ||

My gut feeling is this, but could be wrong! For WSM this year, I'll go with Z, Shaw and Ed in 3rd (although 2nd would be nice if he ups his game a little more), but don't think he's good enough top win it yet, but again, be nice to be proven wrong! I know it's 'excuses', but if Z hadn't fumbled that stone, could this of been his 5th win?! Ed looked massively strong, but he shouldn't have strict pressed that 195; it was massively powerful/impressive but it was showboating a bit too IMO... More so when he's up against the best logger of all WSM! I also don't think Ed will beat Z's log record, unless he massively improves his technique and learns to drive with his legs more! I also don't think Thor will win WSM | ||
