Good read and nice frank interview about training frequency, injuries. Would love to see him do well on a big stage, if he ever gets back to full fitness and has the desire.

Well he recently done a 220kg clean and jerk on his facebook. His squats look very strong at the moment also.

his squatting frequency and intensity is mental. smolov intensification phase is his deload.

yes saw 260x5x5 paused no belt, wraps and rock bottom.. so many grinders too. how on earth does his CNS recover from this to do it so frequently?

On the subject of high frequency heavy training. Training as a job. Check out an interview on YT from Juggernaut training with Chad Smith interviewing Max Atila whom has actually trained by the Bulgarian coach whose name I won't be able to spell beginning with 'A'. Great in sight. Talks about squating to a Max as much as 30 times a week when I injury stopped him training the comp lifts. Good story were he came in to train and couldn't do 70kg. Wherein coach A basically laughs at him for being loser lol

i like max - he's another crazy frequency squatter!

what i notice is they don't psyche up in anyway... respecting the whole training v comp max thing.

there's a video of max doing 6-7 sets of 5 with 260kg failing reps all over.. but he never looks like he's stressing at all.
he just ambles up, squats 3-4 hard reps has a go with the next, if it comes to a halt he simply hurls the bar off his back
with a 'so what' look on his face and returns to do another set.

Clarence recently put up a 330 deadlift. A fella left a comment saying he would love to see a Tom Martin v Clarence deadlift.

Clarence put up a respectful reply saying he wouldn't be surprised if Tom could hit 330 for 8.

Tom if you read this, somehow somewhere, get a session with that man and video it.
