I'm turning into a coffee wa**er. Brought a cheap espresso machine. Normally drink strong instant or espresso if I have any.
I tried hasbean and wasn't really a fan. Tasted more like wine to me. Which could be a number of things, my s**t technique or my cheap taste buds.

Just to raise a pedantic point, we were discussing whiskey, not whisky

Just as true regardless of spelling, e.g.the classic "bourbon and branch".

One guy fails to spell Ristretto, another quotes and copies. Ristretto.
I drink cheap instant most of the time. I'll have the occasionally espresso at work, brew my own with a tiny little machine.

You're right, of course! You know your stuff. I don't go near espresso when making coffee for myself (although I can still pull a good shot with a decent semi-auto machine, and do fairly decent latte art) because of the hassle.
One other important thing I thought of is cleanliness... If you go in a coffee shop and the machine, grinder, steaming wands etc. look a mess, 90% of the time the coffee will taste nasty. Really busy places that believe in good quality coffee still find the time to keep their equipment cleaned and regularly serviced.

Ah but your link was discussing Scotch whisky, and I drink and was talking about Irish whiskey. Which personally I would never put water in.

I love a bit of pedantry mr gorilla... I'm glad I know it can be spelt both ways now...
Re whiskey and water, not whisky and water, my first googleise found me at Jameson's website, where their master distillers recommend adding water to help release flavours
