The IPF legal ones, do they really add lbs to the squat? Heard great things about the new generation of knee sleeves- what sort of carryover (if any)?

SBD'S are the best by far

Not sure what I get out of em because I wear them all the time all I know is my squat session and squats on the platform seem to go a lot better with them on

Cool, not a fan of the equipment anymore so gonna compete raw.

But holy f**k the knee sleeves are expensive! 60 quid for an extra 5kg carryover???

My SBDs aren't super tight, but they make my squat feel an awful lot better. Also, ive had no knee pain at all since I got them. Get a pair.

tried some sbd's for 1st time last night and they are akin to my double ply strength shop sleeves, do you get anything...god knows, maybe its a mental thing having knee bolstered a little bit...i feel they maybe add a little something.

I have found no real difference in terms of support between the top end sleeves eg SBD or Blue Rehands.

They do give support but what the add to the lift is small enough to be under daily variation in strength. Few kg at best I think.

Alas they have always been expensive even prior to the IPF Classic Champs. Blue Rehband being the same price for ages. All Titan, SBD and now Metal did was match the current price of top sleeves that were out there.

Sleeves honestly give you no extra 'kgs' on your squat.

What they do is keep your knees very warm and you feel supported, which in turn can give you more confidence, but they are not knee wraps.....

Thanks to having no calves to speak of, I can get my thighs into a pair of 'small' SBD's after around 5 minutes worth of messing around and the only thing being that tight does for me is cut off the blood supply to my feet (I doubt that anyone wears them much tighter that I do).

I train most of the time in 2 year old blue Rehband's (size large) and I squat exactly the same in them as I do in the super tight SBD's (which is also the same amount I squat with naked knees).

The build quality of the SBD's is far better than the Rehband's though, so I can thoroughly recommend them - Just don't expect to be magically squatting 10kg more than you were this time last week.....

I use neoprene supermarket sleeves (not IPF-legal but cheap) just to keep my knees warm but I'm shopping for 7mm SBD's or Rehbands at a friendlier price than £60 or £70. Rehband sell one sleeve for £30 meaning you need a pair.
