I usually use a high (180+) df for very short sprints like 100m, 150+ for a 500m, maybe 140 for a 1k, and 125-135 for 2k and anything above. In fact, I only keep a close eye on the df when I'm training for or racing a 2k. For the shorter stuff, I go a bit by feel. If I'm doing a training piece, I use the df that I would use for the race distance that I'm training for. I.e., if I'm doing 8x500m as part of my training for a 2k, I'll use a df of 130, not 150.
