ursus said:Well done Big Z Lalas and Radz and great press from big Ed . Big Z reigning as champ as a (heaviest ever)400lb plus athlete is incredible , fast mobile and beyond strong .Interestingly the weightloss seems to have significantly affected the outcome and the top end power of the slimmed down athletes . I cant quite work out yet why anyone still thinks this is productive ? unless just for the obvious reasons of being more marketable to sponsors .

To be fair thor was only a couple of points off z last week.

I honestly think it will be a different story at wsm too.

Truck pull, no max log or dead, and I think slimmed down thor will take the whole thing.

And I think Terry's weight loss had more to do with quality of life than winning comps

Well I have my reasons for my weight loss and for people that know me or know about my personal life they know why. If anyone is curious I'm happy to answer just prefer not to broadcast it on a public forum. As for z, he was 160 at bodypower (same as I was) he's 185 now, tbh I have no clue how he did that. I know what some people might say but I'm not getting at that. 25kg in 8 weeks is just insane. I guess partly due to muscle memory. Tbh I would say that is the best I have ever seen him. I thought his performance was incredible. He was making the best guys in Europe look like amateurs. It was a perfect performance, no mistakes and that rarely happens to any of us.

As far as my own performance some people might be surprised but I wasn't that disappointed. Not been back properly training that long. I've been incredibly busy recently so event training hasn't been as regular as it should have been. Log was odd. Smashed 160 in warm up like it was nothing, got out there, cleaned 170 and nearly passed out. They left us quite a while after warm up which may not have helped. With log being weak for me anyway I needed it to be perfect. Just to add that is 2nd time I've done log in 3 months. We have no log at wsm so I've not been training it.

Next up yoke, 2nd was a decent ish run. Went as fast as I could so no complaints. Radzikowski and lalas kicked my arse on the yoke in Czech so it's an improvement.

Deadlift, never been good at side handle deadlifts so was okay for me being not a million miles off the top guys. I would add and I'm not being an arse we were specifically told no bouncing, I felt mark bounced reps 2-5. Anyway, he could very possibly have won that event anyway and would still have beaten me

Farmers, well was a strange one. The design of the farmers was a little odd, the handles cut into the rsj, I kept smashing them into my legs and i had a feeling like a dead leg in my calves, they are now so swollen it feels like my skin is gonna split. I think if I was at full power I'd have had the strength to be able to hold them off my legs but obviously I'm not strong enough at the minute. I have some amazing purple bruises on my quads too.

Keg toss, by this point I wasn't even sure I'd be able to get one. My legs and lower back were destroyed. Missed the first throw which didn't help my nerves, got the first 7 over in the end. Didn't have enough energy for the last one.

Last event stones, I looked at the points I thought I could possibly sneak 5th if I have a really good run. Stones are generally a very good event for me and I was going head to head with Thor so knew he would drag me along. Loaded the first got a bit of cramp, 2nd stone was worse, 3rd my calf cramped so bad even with all my weight on my foot I was still on tiptoes. Couldn't get it to release for about 5-10 mins even with Eddie pushing all his weight on it.

Well ended up 7th, just wasn't comp ready. I feel another 4 weeks and I'd have been able to challenge for podium as my strength has improved recently. I always say at top level small margins mean big points, if I'd got the opener on log and 1 more on Deadlift it'd have gained me 11 points, would have been in 4th going into the stones. I know where I need to work and I know I can easily turn this around for wsm.

Overall I thought the comp was great, crowd were amazing and it was a pleasure to compete. Just s**t I have done europes 3 times now and never managed to finish one Unhappy

Well done Terry, a good write up Happy
I think anyone dropping a significant weight and not doing much specific training for a comp will struggle, but against some of the best in the world you still performed well. That's something to be happy with, like you are Happy

You mention no log at worlds, do you already have a place there?

Technically no but I will place at Brits (obviously I believe I will) and if not I think making the final every year for last 7 should get me a wildcard Happy I've only ever known 2 finalists not get invited back next year and 1 retired.

It's just a starting point, plenty more to come in the next few weeks. I always get my prep almost spot on for wsm so I'm at my best throughout the year when it matters. I will do the same this year.
