Trained 6-7:30 at X4L Leeds with Sob, he was chasing my 250 deadlift from Sunday... Warmed up and stretched, some bar only good mornings. Back still sore right in the base, deadlifts didn't seem to affect it though, especially wrapped up tight with my lumber support and lever belt. Deads 70 x 10 110 x 5 150 x 5 170 x 5 190 x 4 (Left hand sore so added straps, need to practice more in them for comps anyway..) 210 x 3 PB 230 x 2 PB - never rep'd this much, felt ok but think I was tired from Sunday. Sob then went and pulled 260 the bas***d...So despite having done 250 on Sunday I tried it... 260 x F - got it to my knees but just couldn't lean back/push hips through to straighten, much better than my 255 fail though. Not a good idea to max again so soon but adrenaline took over (due to Sob) and went for it. I was happy it went up like it did though so it will come very soon when I'm fresh and injury free. Vid here: Barbell Rows (from floor) 70 x 5 90 x 5 90 x 5 These were hurting my back, think from the position, so left them there. Hammer Curls 12.5 x 10 x 4 - both arms together, slow with good form, felt really light this week Kroc Rows 35 x 6 55 x 2 - too heavy 42.5 x 10 x 4 These felt really good today, didn't hurt my back. They weren't too difficult so I'll up them next week to 45s. Finished there. | ||

Didn't bother trying 90, the above were tiring me out! Stones Tackied up, lined up the stones upto 170.. a little optimistic lol 110 60" - easy 120 54" - easy, first time loaded to higher platforms 155 48" F 155 48" FFF - wasn't happening today for some reason Did this easy enough last time. The stones just felt really mucky and hard to grip today. Felt a sharp pain in my lower back again on the right hand side on the 4th fail, same place... Seems ok again now so hopefully ok! Was a good session enjoyed it, lots of lads there, didn't really get that much done for the time I was there though! | ||

I felt good going into the session, like I was going to hit some PBs. I wanted to get my 120 bench, a long term goal. I've been eating lots, and drinking lots of choco milk trying to bulk up. Warmed up my shoulders to start as always with a 2.5kg plate. Bench 20 x 10 20 x 10 60 x 5 80 x 5 90 x 3 100 x 2 110 x 1 - flew up so was feeling confident 120 x 1 PB - well happy, a long term goal achieved. It felt fairly easy and went up fast 125 x F - Sob said I should go for this as 120 looked easy, don't think my confidence was there as it just felt far too heavy and didn't budge. 122.5 x F - held the weight and started moving but stalled just off chest. Log 35 x 5 ftoh strict 35 x 5 ftoh push 55 x 3 ftoh 75 x 3 ftoh 85 x 3 ftoh PB - this was my 1 rep PB from Sat, felt much better, this is in my next comp so was pleased I managed to get some reps out. 90 x 1 PB - well happy, went up easily enough, that's another 5kg in 3 days 100 x F - cleaned it well and held it up but just too much for now 95 x F - felt good but just couldn't push it up Axle - Power Cleans and Strict Press 65 x 2PCs, then 5 strict 65 x 3PCs, then 6 strict 65 x 4PCs, then 5 strict Very pleased with my strict pressing of these, and my power cleans to be honest DB ftoh 35 x 2 53 x F 70 x FFF - thought we'd give it a bash, cleaned it fine and it sat nicely on shoulder. My tekkers needs lots of work though. I need to keep doing DBing, especially after my poor show in the comp with the 55 one that I had done 5 reps on in training... Finished there at closing time. A great session, some big PBs and very enjoyable. | ||

Trained today at Central Fitness, powerlifting and strongman gym in Birmingham, as we're staying with the in-laws who live in Brum. Turns out it was only a couple of miles away. A decent gym and setup. Trained 12:30-3 this afternoon. Warmed up, some 20x10x2 squats, stretched off. Deads 70 x 10 70 x 10 110 x 5 150 x 5 170 x 3 190 x 2 210 x 1 240 x 1 - felt heavy, but went up quick enough 260 x F - felt really heavy, nowhere near as well up as last week, makes me think the weights are lighter are Kirkstall... 255 x F - head wasn't in it.. Hammer Curls (both together) 15s x 10 x 3 sets 12.5s x 10 Kroc/DB Rows 45s x 10 x 4 sets each arm CGBP Warmed my shoulders up. 20 x 10 20 x 10 60 x 5 80 x 5 90 x 5 100 x 4 PB - stalled half way up 5th rep.. 60 x 10 60 x 10 Barbell Rows 60 x 10 x 3 sets Dips BW x 10 10 x 8 20 x 6 30 x 4 Finished there. A good enjoyable session, apart from my deadlifts! I'll deffo train there again when next staying in Birmingham. Hopefully I'll be able to make it tie in with one of the powerlifting sessions so I can get some coaching from the owner Lee Marshall who I spoke to there | ||

I didn't get chance to train yesterday, and been busy today packing etc, although I managed to slip away from the Mrs for a couple hours to watch some of Rotherham's Strongest Man, as it's not far from me! Trained 7-7:50 at X4L Kirkstall, Leeds by myself. My back is still not 100% but it'll chance to recover now, and I felt a bit tired/strange, but could feel a big squat on the cards. Gym shuts at 8 so it was only a short sesh planned. Squats Testing low bar.. 20 x 10 20 x 10 70 x 5 120 x 5 - weight felt like it wanted to slide off my back! Need some practice. Back to high bar.. 150 x 3 170 x 2 190 x 1 210 x 1 PB - happy build up felt good too. 215 x F - oh dear, got stuck in the hole, no spotter so had to drop it onto the spotter bars, in the process I twisted my left f**king knee which I had probs with a few weeks ago! What a t**t! Oh well happy with 210 and I have time to recover With my knee feeling strange now I didn't want to do any more squats so stupidly I thought I'd have another bash at that elusive 260 deadlift to send me off on happy hols despite doing deads on Thurs.. Deads 100 x 5 120 x 5 160 x 2 180 x 1 200 x 1 230 x 1 - f**k me, hard work tonight, very slow so sacked off PB chasing there. 180 x 2 - was gonna rep out but my knee was in pain now as was my back again, oh dear, I will not learn. Finished there, time to close. When I'm back a week on Monday I'm going to resist the temptation to max all the time and knuckle down to some serious strength building for my next comp in July, although my strength is still going up nicely so we'll see lol | ||

Monster DB 35 x 3 53 (fat handle) x FF 70 x FF 53 x F - very close Fin. Happy with benching, not really with the other s**t. | ||

I have a gym at work which is pretty crappy but has an Oly bar and enough weights for OH work, no rack though so can't squat or press from rack. So very quick session this evening after finishing late.. Clean (1st rep) & Strict Press 20 x 10 20 x 10 40 x 5 50 x 5 60 x 5 80 x F PB for a powerclean - think it was as I'd cleaned it and it sat low on my shoulders?? 80 x 2 Push Press 70 x 4 PB - happy Hammer Curls 12.5s x 10 x 2 A quick session. My knee sleeves and wraps have come from SS Trained at X4L Leeds this evening. Squats Sleeves.. 20 x 10 20 x 10 70 x 10 110 x 5 150 x 5 - all above done low bar, practising tekkers. Wraps on.. 180 x 1 200 x 1 215 x 1 - fast, sorted wraps better 220 x 1 230 x 1 PB - as were the previous 2 nice and quick out the hole, well happy. Sleeves back on.. 140 x 5 110 x 10 110 x 10 - nice and fast, last few paused at bottom Hammer Curls 12.5s x 10 17.5s x 10 17.5s x 8 Decline Bench Sit-ups BW x 15 x 3 Hypers BW x 10 +15 x 10 BW x 10 Some grip work then done. Awesome squat session, enjoyed it. Well my journal title is pointless now eh?? To start a new one or not?! | ||
