15/3/09 Colchester Last Ditch BDFPA Qualifier

Just wanted to take it easy and qualify at the comp, so I went like this:

Squat: 245-265
Bench: 180-200
Deadlift: 210

675 total from 5 attempts (all successful), job done.

I discovered that I can get 160 down to my chest really easily in my Katana if I don't wear my belt. And I didn't get any marks anywhere. This MUST mean that it's too big - lol!

Now I have to decide whether or not to do the BDFPA Single Lifts in about three weeks. I plan to do the BDFPA Brits on 2nd May.

Yeah I did 315 double-ply suit (no briefs), but the lifts in my profile are all successful competition lifts done in single-ply. I noticed some of these other pussies count gym lifts and all sorts of rubbish. If I did that my "total" would be a fair bit higher.

The facial hair was trimmed for the comp. It's okay, but recently has been infiltrated by some paler bits. I mean really pale. As in grey! Unhappy

How are you mate? Well I hope.

Im great mate , been a twig for over a year now , so no-one remembers what a bloated hog i was ,im into kettlebells , bit wierd , but great for conditioning.

the whole BPC thing - after the british was on telly , is it on the up or on the down ?

There's only about six grey hairs in my beard, but their presence is upsetting!

Which comps are you going to be at this year (spectating or otherwise)? It'd be good to catch up with you in person at some point Jon.

I don't really know anything about the BPC mate. I am sticking to single-ply, tested lifting from now on.

LOL! Indeed I don't! But I might actually be doing a full deadlift workout in the next day or two.

They sneak in like that and before you know it the bas***ds are everywhere. I'm 33 and I know that of which I speak.

Raw Bench: all reps paused
40x5x2;
60x3;
90x3;
110x2;
130x2;
145x2;
110x15;
100x12 (triceps f**ked by now);

Triceps pressdowns and offski.

Very rushed tonight cos I got held up at work.

Training 20/3/09

Suited Sumo Deadlift:
70x5;
120x3;
160x3;
180x2 - added belt;
200x2;
220x1;

Conventional Deadlift:
190x3;
190x5 - paused about ten seconds between each rep;

Speed bench:
40x5;
70x3;
90x3x6;

A few rows and some band pullaparts when I got home. All done well inside an hour.

I was training alone and after some fairly easy sumos, the conventional deadlifts and even the "speed" bench felt heavy! I reckon it's cos I competed on Sunday. Looking at this workout, one could be forgiven for thinking that I'm not trying hard enough (lol), but trust me - this is the calm before the storm.
