Member 1699, 77 posts | Try doing platform deadlifts of a 5-6 inch deficit, drop you weight by 40-60kg and try and work you way back up to your normal deadlift. You should find lapping the weight a hell of a alot more easier. I'm poor so I don't have a stone yet so I make do with bunching aload of plates together with a removed end of barbell, I was struggling with 325lbs [geting maybe 1 rep] so I started doing deficit deadlifts and after 3 months I got 420lbs for 2 reps, I know lifting plates is a hell of alot more easier then a 42 inch ball but it still increase my strength in those positions needed to lift a stone. I stole the idea of Diesel crew with the plates after Sean kenny decided to leave a 420lb stone in my gym for a couple of weeks and I couldn pick it up.

Still got a little bit of strength Member 400, 22062 posts | Lapping is more about effective use of tacky plus arm strength than anything else. I'd say it's rare to fail a stone lap due to insufficient back strength.

Atlas stone weights are way less than dead lift weights! I know it's not exactly the same movement. The shape of the stone makes grip the limiting factor.
