Stuck my name down for the U105kg Southern Qualifier today. Obviously I wont be eligable to qualify, just making up the numbers as a few have dropped out. Not planning to take it too seriously but should be a good laugh though.

England U105kg Southern Qualifier

Deadlift – 90 seconds
220kgx10
Stopped early

Viking Press
120kgx17 (Plate weight)
Didn’t really pace it correctly should have had more

120kg Farmers – 20m
20ish seconds
I didn’t drop them! Not training for speed really showed, I also took a dramatic tumble over the line as it was the only was I was going to cross it, can’t wait to see the footage

300kg Yoke – 20m
15ish seconds
t**t dropped it!

340kg Type for 12 flips
43 seconds
105 and there CV type events, almost killed me

100, 120, 140, 160kg Stones – Low platform
23 seconds
Was happy with this, the only event I went all out on/

I went in a head to head against another over 105. He had only been training strongman for 3 weeks! Despite being a unit I think it showed you can’t be 120kg Body builder and expect to carry over immediately with no experience, sure he’ll do well with some guidance from the Reading boys. Think I took it 4-2. Was happy with my overall performance as pretty sure I would have placed high even though I wasn’t running on full steam.

(Will edit timings when results get posted)

Good stuff Vinny!

Out of curiosity: where would that performance have placed you if (Grin) you were competing as a 105?

I was thinking second because I thought I beat Simon in a few events, that said I don't remember beating John Hobson who came 3rd in many events so now I'm utterly confused.

I'm waiting for the offical results to come out. One thing I do know, is that I'm way off the high standard Paul Woods set.

I'll be posting the offical results later, I would have come 4th. Happy with that considering I was only firing 4 cylinders.
