You'll find medics will usually lean more towards the cautious side, it's ingrained into us. I can almost guarantee if you see a normal GP, he will tell you not to lift. That's why I think it's important to find a doc that trains, if you can.

I've got the exact same pains, when to see a chiropractor today, she said it,s an inflamed sciatic, told me to ice it loads and rest, no lifting. Explained I've got a comp this sunday, she said it would be best to give it a miss but understood she was talkin to a brick wall lol she done some manipulation on hips an lower back then in for more next Tuesday, she thinks it will be ok given a bit of time, its only an inflammation

Also sleep on your side with pillow between legs to take twist out of your spine

Exactly. Grin

I'm getting a small crop coming out of ICSM. There's a small group of us that all do strength training.

Foam roll before or after a length icing session?

By train around it do you mean things that hurt it directly or things that involve the lower back and may or may not hurt to do?

It doesn't hurt all the time, only in certain movements or positions, I ran for my bus today no problem, can have vigorous sex, no discomfort. Just a numbing feeling in certain movements or sitting a certain way. I sit down a lot at work, not helping?

It's more the numb tingly feeling in my shin that annoys me more than the back/hip soreness. My tailbone feels quite bruised if it is poked.

I foam rolled before and after training sessions. Ice whenever you can.

I just modified my training a bit. eg no high bar squats (they seemed to hurt more), no vigorous snapping of the hips at the top of a squat, dropping the volume for a while, no arched back benching, sumo deadlifts, wearing a belt earlier in the workout, decompression stuff like hangs and chins.

If you didn't feel something suddenly go whilst lifting a heavy weight, then this is unlikely to be something sinister. You're young enough and should shake it off pretty quickly.

Sound, thanks Sam.
Yeah I only noticed it after Tuesday's light-ish workout, after sat's comp, after sunday's training.. probably just needed a bit more rest.
What about anti inflammatories? gel, pills etc
