Tom, your vids are entertaining. I see huge improvements every vid...with your beard.

My power clean tech is s**t because i used to take months off it at a time, then only did them twice a week when i did them. No time to focus on technique.

210 c+j @75??? Who is this guy?

massive power.... you could be good at oly lifting... blah blah blah

If you want to improve your catch on those cleans, and you might not give a crap, then you should take the straps off.

Hook grip is the solution to this problem I'm telling you you have but you might not care about.

I'd choose oly lifting over powerlifting any day! I'm not ready yet because i f**ked my achilles too much.

The 140kg p.clean was 3 months post surgery, 2 days later 150, +2 days 160, +2 days, racked 170 in the perfect position, but i thought it was a fail because i've never caught it there, so i didnt stand up!!! It hurt too much even wrapping it up, so i started doing them muscle clean??? things.

I only use straps from hang bro...... Look at all the vids from the floor, even the 190 was hook grip.

The problem with my technique is that ive never focused on it. These videos are the truth, there is no build up to these weights....i just go in and lift whatever weight i can with no preparation or drilling.

Athletics required too much other training to concentrate on weights technique. The 260 deadlift in 2009. I did about 3 weeks dl before this, then stopped. 1 year later pulled 280 (with no hitch!) when i was bored, another year later 300 with a couple weeks doing it. No wonder im a wreck.

I was at parallel, in a nice position. I racked it with my elbows through for the first time ever. I'm used to having no elbows through, then kinda muscling it up from my chest. It happened so fast, i racked it and put it right back down. Does this even make sence?!

My bad home boy.

I might suggest the reason you keep buying a 1 way trip to snap city is because you're lifting things too big too early on. Like 10kg progressions daily...

If you wanted to do oly lifting I reckon you would do well to lift sub maximal classic lifts and use them as a good old stretch and coordination session, then hammer the s**t out of ATG squats (I'm assuming these don't hurt)...

With a year of technique behind you and a 280 BS at your weight you'd do big things when you do decide to start inching the weights up.

I need a program i know, and i need to have someone to stop me being stupid. In fact, i was being smart at first. Then some geared up prick started to lift big at the gym. Some other guy said hes probably stronger than me now. At this time i was just doing 100kg squats and calf raises. That's when i quickly put on 140 and said, "see, easy!"

I got up to 190x3 paused squat with my ass about 4 inches off the ground. Then after doing cleans for a week my achilles was damaged further. I layed off for a couple of months and started doing these box squats recently.

So be sensible.

Take your time and build slowly. Get in a weightlifting club and let them have a say over you technique and what you need to work on.

Or waste the next few years too and have a couple more surgerys.

Or do neither! Happy

Surgery is fun! Means i can sit around on my xbox for a month after getting those achievements!

My plan is to do a powerlifting comp just to do something. I have no idea what my squat would be, because i wont be doing olympic style, but id like a 130-140 bench and 300-310 DL at my first comp.

Then that's one thing out of the way....done something! Then work on Olympic lifting for 2014? I'll probably still do some track stuff because i love that training.

I have a pretty sensible progression I'm doing for squats to stop me doing exactly what you did. The key to this s**t for me is to just work up to a max you can do comfortably without any risk and decent form, then spend the next month working with percentages based on that max. Then do 5kg more every 4th week and repeat. It's slow and boring, but if you can wrap your head around 5kg monthly increments leading to 60kg extra on your squat if you do it consistently for 1 year, then you can maybe convince yourself that you don't need to add more than 5kg to the bar every month...

This guy gets it Happy

I don't think it's an issue for normal people but you explosive types seem to be able to shift weights that your bodies just aren't ready for yet!

Clarence adds 5kg to the bar every month!!!

Tom, i've chilled out this week and finally written a very easy program. 80% of the training is achilles rehab and the others is lighter weights. Example, after doing that 270 box, i put on 290 and someone had a hard time convincing me not to try it....next session i just did 200 for some slow controlled reps. Then some full squat with 90kg.

Deadlift will be very light until my broken finger heals anyway. Gonna be a boring log for now.
