PED's don't add talent or ability, but will increase strength, aggression, muscle mass (if eating correctly) and acne/water retention/man boobs. So if those things are your goals then yes drugs improve your performance

And a completely different topic really, I should rephrase though.

IS it fair to let someone lose because they weren't willing to take the same health risk as someone else?

AND why does this only pertain to substances taken? Lifting heavy weights is a pretty huge health risk in itself, therefor the above statement could apply to training harder.

From personal experience, it seems more f**king dangerous to try and lift heavy while clean!

Indeed a separate subject

But in some sports the danger is one of the fundamental attractions and defining limitations

Strictely skelingtonbob racing in ice

Boxing

That game flash gordon did in the film

Given the athletes access to doctors, I would say the health risks are minimal (or can/should be identified before it becomes a problem...)

Agreed - when testing was brought in it was to protect athletes. Before it people had died through drug use. It shouldn't be a case of the person willing to take the biggest risk coming out on top.

what exactly would happen if they let athletes do what they want? would they be dropping dead by 35?

Depends on the sport - I don't suppose there are many power lifters out there getting regular health check ups. Also whilst steroids may not be an acute health risk, removing testing also opens up the use of stimulant use which has been shown to have great risks especially in endurance type events.

No! BB do as they want...in recent times, I think only Flex Wheeler has been seriously ill

As I said, with regular GP visits, any negative side effect can de bnipped in the bud/usage stopped

To an extent this is human nature

Aside from substance misuse fighting sports such as boxing and MDMA will be ultimately had victories and success with this precise sacrifice

I'm not saying its a good thing though

Sorry Steve, I was referring more to "elite athletes"

Also, any Tom, Dick or Harry can have a well man test from the GP, were EVERYTHING is checked

sorry for how vague this is but at the Sydney Olympics some university did an anonymous poll at the athletes village, asking if they could give the athlete a drug right now, that was completely undetectable, but would guarantee them gold in their event, BUT they would be dead 1 year later, would they take it? Something like over 60% said yes

again, just from memory at the time

I used to follow BB quite closely, and there were MUCH more health problems than just Flex Wheelers kineys

dead/dying bodybuilders were common news
