After competing with guys who wera double ply suits and briefs ,along with knee wraps ,the big numbers lost their 'shock and awe' these guys are just like anyone else - a few are elite but many are using the equipment to its upmost, I got 285 with suit only and im pretty sure it would have been 310-20 with briefs underneath, but i probably would have just managed a 220 raw ,mabie not even that.

the guys squatting 400+ im pretty sure wouldnt do 300 raw.

I enjoy equipped lifting but im deffo gonna find out my RAW squat in the future

as for the feds i would go with BWLA if clean, BPC if 'dirty'

wait a minute you argued against using belts on squats, which i can remotely understand, but surely you wouldnt be against using them for curls????? What would that do to our V tapers man!

Belts for curls is just silly!

I often think how silly that is when doing lat pulldowns with my straps and belt on, whilst in my cut off denim shorts, desert boots and my USA dude rag.

You probably feel cool as all hell with that gear on, until you realise you're working out without a bum-bag. Rookie error.

Iain, surely the straps are a must when doing pull downs as your hands will be slippy from all the oil you have rubbed over yourself?

I think the choice of feds is:
BWLA if you are clean
BPC/BPO if you are on gear
BDFPA if you think everyone else is on gear and you want "easy" titles

lol. Short & sweet!Tongue

I think the BDFPA records were higher than BWLA's for my weight class (90kg). There certainly wasn't a big difference, unless I was looking at the wrong pages. I was probably comparing men to women by mistake.Grin

Interesting post jon. Never having competed I see the numbers and think that it is just just unreal when I compare it to me in the gym raw. But when you say for example that yuoe equipped numbers in the squat are maybe a 220 raw, it helps me to "bridge the gap" in my head between myself and competition.

It also makes me tempted one day to try double ply suits, briefs, wraps, the whole nine yards and see what numbers are doable for me.

Ultimately though, I tend to appreciate more and more the completely raw performances.

DAM! DAM! DAM! I always forget the bum bag!! Thats why the big boys pick on me at the gym!!

No probs with the oil on my hands. I have a small Philippino boy for that, plus he changes the pin on the machines and spots me when I am doing tricep kick-backs (the only free weight lift I do).

Everyone should wear a belt especially if they never intend to compete, a strong core is for gays, just use a really tight belt instead. A usefull tip is to wear it under your shirt in the local discoteque thus making you more attractive to women.

the bdfpa qualifying totals for teenagers are higher in the BDFPA mate, so it would be fair to say the bdfpa is a harder federation to lift in if your a teenager (like me)

however the bpc totals are ridiculously high, which is why my choice was bdfpa

as for titles, i think its safe to say the 125kg t3 class isnt brimming over with entrants, myself and hayden being the only people i can think of who would be in this class so winning against no-one is easy no matter what fed you lift in

Fair enough, mate. I actually wasn't thinking about my own 1st comp; I genuinely found the massive differences between some records in different feds a bit confusing!

BTW, when I compete I really won't care for the first comp how many or few people I'm up against... I just want to experience a comp, in any shape or form.Happy
