Saw physio yesterday and got a plan in place for sorting the back.
Wanted to get a session in as I've not trained the last couple of days and I'm not likely to be able to train the next couple of days.
Obviously the back wasn't loving it but enjoyed the light stuff and really liked the seated log press, definitely something that will be featuring moving forwards.

Last bit of events work boxed off. LH side still a bit rough, but fairly happy with my form all things considered.
Life has meant I've done far less training for the final two weeks of this prep than I'd usually do.
Be interesting to see if the extra rest is a benefit or not once comp time comes.

Max log

Hit 140, failed 150. Shoulder just hasn't recovered from fitxpo.
Luckily the log being so solid threw most guys so i still got decent points.

Max pull

Won with a comfy 385 (made a bit harder by setting up off centre).
Didn't bother with a 3rd lift, just wasn't feeling it.

150 farmers x 30m.

Good start. Decent speed. Slow pick up on the turn. Just not enough confidence in my grip to grab and go. No idea why as the weight was effortless.
14.8s. 3rd place.

Sacks over 4.5m

Only 1 other guy made them look easy warming up. He was up before me and went a bit cautiously. I followed him and launched the first 4 without stepping back so had loads of time to get in place for the 5th bag.
5 bags. 19s. 1st place.

Sandbag for distance

I despise this event, unless it's really heavy i just don't have the desire to keep going when it starts hurting.
60m. Around 5th.

Two of us were tied going in to stones. They used carry as the tie break so he get to go after me on the stone.

Stone over yoke

The first stone they brought out (21" 135kg) was wet with something (spilled drink was the theory) so the first couple of guys just couldn't grip ot at all. They swapped that out for a 140 which meant i had a bit of extra time to get my head right after the s**t show on carry.
7 was leading when it came to me.
Stone felt pretty easy, height wasn't extreme so just did everything by the book and kept going for the full 60s. Slipped slightly around rep 6 which meant a rep rolled back off the yoke.
7 reps. Joint 1st.


The guy i was tied with only managed 6 reps so i took the overall and a nice xmas bonus.
Far from my best performance but I knew that was a risk coming in after a weird few weeks.

Delighted to be taking a break now.
This is the first time in years I've not actually wanted to train and so I won't.
I don't understand people who look for motivation, it's a hobby, if you don't want to do it then just don't.

19/12 - Kaos strength, Preston.

Doubles comp at Kaos today, paired up with my favourite strongwoman Kate Connolly for probably the most enjoyable comp I've ever done.

65/110 log press

Kate was technically perfect and i vipered up 6 reps.
12 reps, 1st place.

150/240 deadlift

Never repped out on this type of weight before. We had 23 to beat, Kate fancied she could get 10. I figured I'd go for 16 to be safe.
Pulled 17 to find out Kate had done 16.
33 reps, 1st place.

80/115 Farmers for distance (15m DnT)

This was horrific. I've never tried anything like this in my life.
I managed around 85m, Kate got about 95m.
1st place.

70/120 sandbag carry x 30m

Just an out and out sprint race.
24.7s, 1st place (by 0.2s)

Stones

1 person lifts stone one, 2nd person can't go until the 1st person has done their stone.
I went first and failed the final stone on the lip (160 to 51"). Calf cramp ended it but honestly i just wasn't feeling it after not training stones enough lately. Kate loaded her final one for the lolz anyway.
2nd or 3rd place.


Overall 1st and an absolute blast of a day.
