Wiegieboard | Crossfit athlete jumps very high. 1m 63cm from standing start. | 28-03-2013 @ 20:12
as crimson as my last victims underclothing..... Member 899, 11330 posts SQ 180, BP 132.5, DL 190502.5 kgs @ 118kgs UnEq | Post Edited: 28.03.2013 @ 20:13 PM by Wiegieboard http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/blogs/world-of-sport/man-jumps-1...I could only scissor that height in my hayday. Note how much bend there is in his legs before takeoff which suggests short achiles which means most of the height is through strength and explosivity instead of stored energy in the tendons.

9x WSM finalist! Member 662, 3372 posts | A hell of a lot is due to flexibility too. If you just watch his head you can see how high he actually jumps,

What I mean is much of that jump is the curling up of his body not the actual height he's generating. Don't get my wrong I couldn't do it I'm just not massively impressed by it personally.

You're right about it having factors other than just raw height, but someone who can box jump that high is going to have a huge vertical. I imagine Tom has had his vertical done on a force plate, I'd be very interested in seeing what he clocks.

I know what you mean Terry, his head barely moves, he somehow pulls his feet up to head height. He isn't actually "jumping" as in propelling his bodyweight upwards. Pretty cool though and very clever technique, I definitely couldn't do it.

It may not of seemed so but I was trying to agree with you I suppose His box jump is big but he won't have a massive vertical leap because he's not going up so to speak he just lands high Either way impressive I think

nothing to hide, please follow my life on webcam Member 255, 3732 posts | Just like weightlifting technique and flexibility is playing a large part. I'm not sure why this makes it any less impressive.
