Yeah I'm looking forward to competing, it will be a bit of a change from powerlifting, having one less lift to do. It's only a club comp so not that serious but I'm hoping to get 70 Sn/100 CJ at least. Those are my PBs in the gym so would be good to match them in a comp setting. We got really lucky. Some guys who know their s**t were in charge of organising the refurbishment. My comp lifts are so far away from my training lifts. I reckon 80/105 is what I'm capable of at the moment. I love the sport but it's f**king frustrating! | ||

Jerks 77x2 77x2 pressed one out cos I'm a douchebag 77x2 77x2 77x2 Good overall Snatch balance 42x5 42x5 42x5 42x5 42x5 meh, not as fluid as last week Press - from dead stop 50x3 57.5x2 failed 3rd, shoulders knackered 50x5 50x5 last one tough Front squats - beltless, slow tempo 80x1 85x2 90x2 95x2 kept myself upright on each rep Snatches were a bit crap tonight, all over the place. 11/15 successful lifts - not consistent enough! Think I got a bit lazy expecting it to be easy after how good last week's snatches felt. Rushed through the reps a bit as well. Was in serious serious pain after I smacked myself in the balls as well :S Snatch balances also a bit inconsistent... On the plus side, jerks felt good tonight (apart from the one stupid pressout), definitely starting to feel a lot more stable in the catch. Front squats decent as well, was running out of time so had to resort to doubles! Pressing was down from Saturday but reckon it's cos of all the jerks. I was weaker in this session last week as well. Barely any time for stretching at the end. | ||

HB squats - belted, very slow eccentric 110x2 110x2 110x2 110x2 110x2 110x2 Close grip bench - paused, to 2 board 80x3 to get used to a heavier weight 75x12 75x9 failed 10th SLDLs - beltless 105x5 Bench felt good tonight, nice and tight. Squats weren't the best; calves were killing and legs felt a bit tired from yesterday. Couldn't really get into the bottom position as well as I usually can. | ||

Snatch pulls 70x5 70x5 70x5 mixed bag but better than last week on the whole I think Jerk balance 54x5 54x5 54x5 54x5 54x5 decent Press - from dead stop 50x2 52x1 58x5 "dead stop" PB. Felt really strong today 43x12 Conventional deads - tapered belt 130x1 135x5 decent form 150x1 back held really straight 170x1 almost as good as the 150. DOH grip as well. 180xf 180xf FFS Pissed off with the deadlifts, could've got it if I compromised my position but want to try and build up with the proper form. Just nothing there on the 180, feel so weak these days! Cleans felt really good though, happy with them. Pressing is up as well, I seem to perform a lot better on the Saturday workouts rather than Wednesday. The snatching really affects my pressing power. | ||

Snatches a bit all over the place (again!), I think 60 should be ok for my opener though. Clean and jerks were good. Was happy with the cleans, bounced out of the hole straightaway with no upper back caving in general. Jerks were a bit sloppy at first as my split was quite shallow but widened it in the last couple of sets and it worked a lot better. Got another work christmas party tomorrow which means I have to go to the gym on Friday night - day before the competition - to do my other squatting and bench session. Not ideal but doubt it's going to affect my performance too much. | ||
