didn't quite get the target but a pb nonetheless! Happy I'll take that! first time I've hit a squat pb in the gym for ages. I know the 67 is there when fresh. maybe would've got it if I didn't fail the first 57 rep and if I went straight to 67 but dunno. really not sure what happened with the first fail, think I was expecting it to be super fast as the 47 was lightning, so I was very shocked when I found it a bit difficult and then just sunk with it!

So aims for this training block were
167.5 squat
110 bench
212.5 deadlift

all things considered I'm pretty happy with the results especially as I got 105 2x2 on the bench. I know 110 is in me. squats were tough but legs have been feeling quite run down from all the weightlifting. Oh well, onwards to the 500 total Happy

Nice week of PBs! I know my bench has been lagging for a while. Started benching twice a week and doing plenty of volume at 90KG definitely helped to get it stronger. Also alternating grip each session seems to be working too.

Do you live in Bethnal Green? You train anywhere else? Muscleworks is a funny environment compared to my usual Virgin Active lol.

Cheers mate. Yeah this is the best bench progress I've seen for ages. I've been doing a lot of volume work on straight bench and a lot of speed work, as well as close grip bench. It's going up slowly, but the main thing is that it's going up!!

I don't live in bethnal green although I really would consider moving there just to be near the gym haha.

Muscleworks is worth the membership just for sheer comedy value. There were a few notable things I remember from there:

- Small dude who would SHOUT "COME ON BRUV!!!" at the top of his voice between every rep of his smith machine squats lol.
- Guy who always used to do handstands in the DB area (and I'm sure you've seen how cramped it is there).
- The sign saying "no spitting out the window". Classy.
- The fact that massages were done next to the treadmills lol.

That smith machine is a strange one, I had a look at it. It seem that it's a fixed bar to the frame, but it moves freely. Up, down, backwards, forwards. Never seen one like it!

Was doing some squats there yesterday and asked a guy to spot me, seemed like a major problem for him! But then I guess not everyone is as friendly as you'd like eh.

Quite happy with this session, everything felt speedy. Stopped taking a pre workout shake, doesn't seem to have impacted performance. Hoping it will help me sleep better too.

Squats were decent, didn't feel super tight for once! Might ditch the chains on speed bench in favour of bands. ROM isn't really large enough to benefit from full deload.

Decent enough, feeling good these days. Been gradually bringing my stance in on deadlifts over the last few months, it's now pretty much semi-sumo. Planning to go back to conventional after the British, think it's a stronger position for me tbh, but will experiment to confirm.
