Thanks Steve. Cycling in Holland, 3 months lifting and other shenanigans earlier in the year made it hard work, but running is further up the priority list now so times are going in the right direction again. Bwt isn't though.

Should do. I have a camping night in a couple of weeks time, but I'll aim to set off after the PR. 22nd Oct is 6 days after the Manchester half too so should be in decent nickHappy or still knackeredUnhappy

Just six weeks to Manchester half - time flies by. I just finished typing up the final eight week schedule to the half I'm doing at the end of October. I'm quite looking forward to doing my first proper half on my own rather than keeping somebody company.

Sure does. I had my last big cycling goal today and apart from a wedding and a nights camping between now and then I'm all about running (with a bit of gun work thrown in to try and combat my masculine insecurities). Looking forward to it now. I'm a long way from much good, but I'm enjoying improving and feel a ton better for it.

Cycle - Mow Cop and return
miles 70.50
hours 5:08:40
Elevation gain (ft) 2,155

Enjoyed it mate. The 25% section was pretty much made to measure for my current fitness level. I doubt I could have done 26% for the same distance or 25% any further. The view was worth it all though and another notch on my seat post, not that I put notches in my seat post.

Thanks Bod. We had a chat to a guy at the castle who told us quite a bit about the history of the killer mile and the other hills nearby. I can see the attraction of cycling round there. I can see the attraction of adding it to regular routines. He also reckoned that there are other more severe climbs, which I don't doubt, but whilst the Louvre is filled with works of art there's only one Mona Lisa (allegedly).

As a complete aside I find the theory of there being other Da Vinci Mona Lisa's (particularly the Isleworth, which as a painting is simply stunning) to be pretty compelling.

Glad you enjoyed the climbing!

I once read that he sketched out the hands on one of his paintings several thousand times until he was happy with them, so the notion that he would make just one version and be happy with the first result seems a tad out of character to me. Comparison with what we all accept as the Mona Lisa with the Isleworth does look like the same woman, but a lot older (bags under the eyes, heavier jowels etc) and the landscape a lot more 'finished'.

I also think it plausible that something as important as the Mona Lisa is stored safely out of sights eye of the masses of plebs many of whom ignore the 'no flash photography' sign. Good chance that what we see in the Louvre is a sanctioned and excellent copy. Think it all adds to the mystique personally. I don't doubt that there are many other superior pieces of art, but something about this one captures the imagination of the viewer at large like no others do, hence my likening it to Mow Cop.Happy

I would think it very likely - the original is probably in the Gents at an Illuminati / Freemason / Alien Lizard Mansion somewhere.

But that is an entirely different discussion... Happy

Run home from work. 9.8 mile 2:00:39

Tad slower than I think I've done previously, but it's about getting some miles in at this stage. Not an unpleasant evening.
