Lift heavy!

I agree with Rob - those squats look fine. Just get some weight on the f**king bar and get some confidence man!

Mon 16/4

I think it's going to take a few weeks to undo last weekend's mayhem, onwards and upwards as they say!

Squats
up to 160kg x 6

Deads
up to 200kg x 5

That'll do for now.

No I meant 230 was your best platform dead around the time when you pulled 260 off the floor, no?

You're quite a diplomat Jonny!

This is a funny one for me considering since my very first few squat/dead workouts I was equipped (and stayed that way for a long time!). Now I've switched to raw lifting and am enjoying it just as much. Am I allowed to like both? Jonny? Wink

In all honesty I prefer raw, but if I'm going to lift in a competition where equipment is allowed I'm going to use it (being the competitive git that I am), whether it's powerlifting or strongman, so the squat suit and bench shirt are going to have to stay put. The majority of my training, however, will be raw.

Shins are fine Rick - thanks for asking. Looks like the rest did them some good. I know what to do if it happens again!

OK let's get excuses out of the way first - it was my stag do last weekend! Nuff said, so needed the week off training to recover, just about started coming round yesterday. Now that the excuses are out of the way let's get to business:

13/4

Log press
70kg x 3 oh dear this isn't going to be fun
80kg x 3 a bit better
85kg x 2 nothing there
85kg x 2 this is appalling!
75kg x 6 better techinque at least!!

Farmers walk
70kg 40m (1 turn)
100kg x 20m
125kg x 40m (1 turn) PB 32.5 secs

Pleased to get a PB considering how weak I obviously am today and the fact that this is the first time in a couple of months I've done farmers due to shin splints. They were harder than I would have liked though and I was all over the place, but my grip was absolutely fine. 140kg x 40m is the goal for this summer.

Stones to 54inches (no tacky)
105kg x 1,x,x
105kg x 1,1,x belt

Still terrible to the high platform but the belt felt good, it's a stayer.

DO axle deads
worked up to 125kg x 1 the finished with some holds.
95kg x 2 sets (first set behind the back).

Glad this one's out of the way. I do need to knuckle down now though and get some weight put on and get some progress made because last weekend was absolutely crazy.

Joni had a good one today (just the 2 of us - we can make it if we try) looking strong on the log and a big farmers pb isn't too far off me thinks.

depends on work really.

Personally i sit on my arse all day in front of a computer. I have a dedicated food drawer in my desk.

Lets see... (opens the drawer), what do we have here...

3 soya chocolate drinks
3 hempower bars (hemp seed, peanut butter bars)
2 small weak ass sainsbury walnut cereal bars
block of halva (loads of calories!)
some cream custard cookies (sainsburys trufree dairy free etc)
one n'ked raw bar
dark mint chocolate
some candy
jar of multivitamines

i keep stacking it all the time, and eating what ever i fancy. Chocolate soya drinks are a must, i drink one every working day, at least.

I have one of these at work too!

Last time I checked I think it had jelly babies, lollies, chocolate, choc chip cookies.

These are (SUPPOSED) to be for the kids though. Mine's all in my bag next to me Grin

Someone at Adlington did the same thing as Kinghorn around the same time (Peter). The only pain I ever get in my shoulders when benching is when using the shirt (never mind the elbows too).
» Cosgroves Strongman Comp (Atherton) (Go to post)11-04-2007 @ 22:14
He's done it before if it's the one i'm talking about aswell. I think he did something like 18 reps with 180 on the squat Eek

By whom?
» Cosgroves Strongman Comp (Atherton) (Go to post)11-04-2007 @ 22:08
If it's the same comp they run every year it's basically a few gym lifts for reps. Fat pete knows about it bacause he has done it. If it's not that then I don't know.
