Found myself training at Core gym in Ballysally (yes, thats a real place). Its a crossfit gym with some decent kit, the only problem i encountered was they only had bumper plates so you ran out of room on the bar around 180kg which meant i couldnt really squat or deadlift. Otherwise it was a nice place to train.
The tyre was a bit unusual, much wider than the 350 i train on, but a lot thinner and no real tread to grip which made it an interesting change.
After a couple of sets of flips i decided it would be more useful to stand inside and just use the tyre as a frame.

Unless medically incapable for some reason, no one should ever drop squats altogether.

Not a bad session, trained at Atlas Gym in Coleraine, fairly decent place, though everything was a bit crammed in.
I did notice they had dumbells up to 70kg though, so gonna hit some monster db tomorrow.

Just think if you beat it before June then you'll have a bigger front squat and a bigger deadlift. Until i max out, then you'll be behind on both lifts Happy

Cheers Ox, ive reached the conclusion it's mostly mental, as long as im certain of hitting the target reps (2+ in the case of the deadlift) its usually fairly straightforward to push past the minimum reps.

8/4

Forehead press

80 * 5,
85 * 5,
90 * 5,
92.5 * 5 - pb?

Tyre flips

350 * 3, 5,

120 * 5, 5.

Keg carry

120 * 20m, 20m.

Beltless deficit deadlifts

180 * 2, 2, 2, 2, 2.

Changed things up a bit tonight. I go away for a long weekend tomorrow and while ive scouted gyms in the area im not certain what kit i will have access to so wanted to get some event work done in case i cant for the rest of the week.
The pb on tyre flip was a nice surprise, had planned 8 flips (which would still have been a pb) but when i finished the eighth i still felt reasonably fresh so did an extra rep. Nice to see the progress in my fitness, no chance at all i couldve managed that even a month ago.
Got some nice speed on the keg carries, but left hamstring started to tighten up on the second run so didn't go as far as i wouldve liked.
Deficits were just to test the hamstring, it felt fine so called it a day feeling pretty happy with things.

Training at a gym near the ferry port up in scotland tomorrow, plan is squats and paused deadlifts, but we shall see.

How skinny are your legs if a sock is wide enough to wear as a sleeve?

And yes, a thick sock would do the job of a single ply sleeve i suppose.

I wouldnt go that far. But knee sleeves will do wonders. Buy them. Love them.

300 * 10 tng would likely still have you as one of the weaker deadlifters in the qualifiers (a fact i shall have to face myself in a few weeks).

You'd need an immense overhead and great fitness to qualify with a relatively poor pull.

Not at all surprised. Welcome to the club.

Even by your standards expecting to make it to uks in a year seems hugely optimistic.
