5/4

Strict press

85 * 2, 2, 2,
80 * 3, 3.

Dumbell rows

50 * 3, 3, 3, 3, 3.

Paused cgbp

100 * 2, 2, 2, 2, 2.

Tris + bis.

As promised a very light session today as i am f**ked, forearms are bruised to bits, knees are on the verge of collapse and ive barely got the energy to breathe.

More events tomorrow, but will likely be keeping everything nice and light and just focus on speed and technique.

^^ £200 isnt really enough to split between more than 2 people with significant enough amounts to motivate inclusion i wouldnt expect.

Regardless i will be entering, last years was my first comp against the biggest boys, be nice to see how much progress ive made since then.

Side handles on the deadlift?

4/4 - Trained at Spartan performance, Consett.

1 clean log press

55 x 3,
75 x 3,
85 x 3,
95 x 3,
105 x 3,
115 x 3,
120 x 1,
125 x 1,
130 x 1.

Tyre flip

300 x 3, 3.
500 x 1 - PB
500 x 1,
500 x 2 - PB
500 x 1, 2.

Stones to 48"

120/140,
120/140/150,
120/140/150/160 - PB
180 x f - agonisingly close to getting it lapped, but just missed it.

Sled drag
+70 x 40m,
+110 x 40m.

Awesome session at probably the finest training facility I've used.
Happy to equal my log pb, especially given all the sets that came before it, feeling confident for beating it at North Englands.
First time trying a giant tyre, first time I've ever actually had coaching on tyre flip, so hopefully it translates well to repping the 350.
Stones were great, first proper stones session since Yorkshires and I destroyed my PB with minimal tacky and relative ease. Was wounded to miss the 180, if I'd tackied my forearms instead of just my hands I'm confident I'd have got it, just got sloppy. Will load it after Northerns once I start doing stones more regularly again.

Pressing tomorrow, but going to dial all the weights right back as I'm a bit broken from 2 very heavy sessions.

3/4

Deadlifts

170 * 3,
220 * 3,
Straps
260 * 2,
280 * 2,
300 * 3 - PB.

Paused squats

180 * 5,
200 * 5,
220 * 5.

Doh axle deadlifts

105 * 5,
125 * 4, 3.

Paused bench press

100 * 8,
120 * 5,
140 * 3,
145 * 3 - pb?

Great session this morning, glad i saved a little energy last night.
Would usually do squats before deads, but my training partner was already on the deadlift platform when i arrived, so that settled that.
Deadlifts felt great, plan was 300 * 2, but second rep was very comfortable (didnt really need to hitch, but i wanted that third rep!) so went for a third. Could definitely have got one more, and maybe even two if i took a breather.
Squats were all comfortable, still had one or two reps left on the final set.
Axle was what it was, hands were a bit torn from deadlifts so didnt try anything fancy.
Bench was very good, the 145 is probably a pb paused triple, and definitely the heaviest triple ive done without any kit, felt good for more, but held a little back for events tomorrow.

2/4

Paused incline press

100 * 2,
120 * 2, 2, 2, 2.

Paused front squat

180 * 3, 3, 3.

1 clean strict log

80 * 5,
90 * 5,
92.5 * 3.

Deficit deadlift

170 * 1,
220 * 1,
240 * 1,
260 * 1,
270 * 1.

Paused deadlift

220 * 3,
240 * 3.

Fairly disappointing session tonight, though it doesnt look bad on paper.
Incline press and paused deads were both good.
Front squats felt a little heavier than i expected, but managed the planned reps fine, even did extended pauses on a few reps.
log and deficit deads were shocking, just didnt feel comfortable at all.

I use an alarming amount of internet data watching stupid youtube videos at work, so anything which saves those valuable megabytes gets a thumbs up from me.

As a plus ive been on the site a few times since lunch and the mobile browser works a treat for me on android. Nice work Rob.

1/4

Forehead press

80 * 8,
90 * 5,
95 * 3,
100 * 2.

Btn strict press

60 * 8,
70 * 5,
75 * 3,
80 * 2.

Beltless speed squats

180 * 2, 2, 2, 2, 2.

Just a short session tonight, this is the one id usually have done on monday night were it not for my family dinner.
First time doing pin presses from forehead height for a long while, nice change, will be sticking with them for at least a few weeks.
Everything was nice and light, some of the squats were very rapid.
Finished the session with some olympic grip holds to stretch myself out a bit.

Back to the usual order tomorrow with front squats and variant deadlifts.

31/3

Axle 1 clean + strict

75 * 3, 3,
85 * 3,
95 * 3.

Axle 1 clean + push press

95 * 3,
105 * 3, 3.

Deadlift

170 * 2,
210 * 2,
240 * 2,
270 * 2,
280 * 1,
290 * 1.

Keg sprints - 120kg keg for 10m

1 run, 2 runs, 2 runs.

Tyre flips

350 * 3, 5.

Fairly solid session today. The deadlifts were a last minute addition, wanted a full body exercise to make sure i was properly warmed up before i went outside for the keg and tyre, and as im squatting tomorrow deadlifts were the default choice. Very happy with how easy they felt, the 290 was the only one requiring reasonable effort (hence why it was the last one).
Keg sprints were horrid, but i need to get some speed and that means practicing them, a lot.
Tyre is getting better, all the practice is paying off.

Squats and overhead tomorrow.

Done. I've got abit of trouble on the log, pressing is the strongest it's ever been but I'm only weighing 126kg and im lacking abit of stability. Need to get my eat on.

I've been pondering this same dilemma today. Weight is currently holding steady around 127kg, which is just about enough, but I'd like to be over 130. Just trying to figure out how to do it without sacrificing the extra fitness I've acquired and losing all foot speed in moving events.

29/3

Log from blocks

65 * 8,
85 * 5,
105 * 3,
115 * 2,
120 * 2 - pb.

Farmers walk

75 * 30m,
95 * 30m,
115 * 30m + 5s hold.

Duck walk/tyre flip medley.

210 * 15m/350 * 3.

Stones to 56"

80 * 2,
110 * 2, 1.

Mixed views on todays session. Log was good, apart from the 115 double which suffered due to me not really giving it the attention it deserved. Final set was much better.
Farmers was light, though 30m including a turn was enough to have my lungs working overtime.
Wanted a 2nd run on medley and to do some keg loading, but the rain came and ruined that plan, so i tried to do some stone loading, but between stones friday and arms yesterday my bis and forearms were shot and i really struggled so threw the towel in early.

Family occasion tomorrow so next session will be tuesday, glad for the days rest, ive earned it.

Also I imagine they would also happily change your product if it is the wrong size.

This has happened to me.

Strengthshop a customer service is second to non.

^^ i agree with all of this. Follow the sizing advice given on their website, if the product isnt a suitable size when it arrives phone them and they'll exchange within a couple of days.

^^ which is in no way relevant to the context, which was about uk strongmen over 150kg.

Id have thought on a good day big Tom Shaw wasnt far from 150, and i wouldnt class him as fat.

Luke, the news on the car is a little depressing, if it ends up being close to 350 in the handles thats gonna be a bugger to those of us who are me!

28/3

Strict press

90 x 2,
100 x 1,
110 x 1, 1.

Push press

120 x 1, 1,
120 x 3 - PB.

Paused cgbp

100 x 2,
120 x 2,
140 x 2,
150 x 1.

Pendlay rows

100 x 10,
120 x 8,
130 x 5.

DB curls

Tricep dips

Rope curls

Rope pushdowns

Chin ups

Underhand pulldowns

Tricep pushdowns

Decent low rep session today, everything was pretty simple, except for the final push press rep at 120, which went horribly wrong and more or less ended with me strict pressing the last 3rd of the rep from a split jerk position.
All the exercies without sets/weights next to them were done for 3 sets of anything between 3 - 15 reps. Despite feeling its a little gay i miss having bigger arms, so gonna thicken those babies up a little.

Big events session at JP tomorrow, hopefully be on form, probably my penultimate session there before North Englands.
