Was doing some power/full snatch today and when I was dropping into the OH squat position I kept losing the bar forward? Is this just because my arms are too far "forward?"

Just decided to improve my raw strength just now as I'm doing a strongman comp in April so want to do well there! Also just want a huge unequipped squat!

Thanks for the comments guys, had a great day. Also thanks to all the loaders, judges, etc for making it enjoyable and run smoothly. Just used today as a bit of comp experiance instead of a serious comp so didn't take any time off beforehand. Think there may be a bit ore to be had with squat/dead as I trained heavy deadlift on friday. Here is my writeup: Squat Attempt 1: 140- was feeling really nervous before my first weight so was a huge relief to just get it out of the way. Attempt 2: 155- decided just to go for a PB and it came up pretty smoothly Attempt 3: 157.5- Just a bonus to get this so was very pleased when it was passed. Bench Attempt 1: 85- was planning for 90 to open, but havn't done any proper paused becnhing so changed it at the last minute in the weigh in just to make sure I didn't bomb. Should have opened at 95 in hindsight. Attempt 2: 95- Again wasn't a massive grind but I think this is my paused bench pb so happy to equal it. Attempt 3: 102.5- Bit Slow on the way up and was happy to get it. PB Deadlift Attempt 1: 180- Not a problem. Easy opener Attempt 2: 197.5 - hit 195 raw a couple of weeks ago and was deadlifting on friday so deided to go for this instead of 200. Also a mental thing. Attempt 3: 205- Pleased with this, nice to get over 200. Definatly more in the tank. Overall had a great day, got some great experiance (e.g. picking openers etc.) for next year. Definatly been bitten by the bug!

Matt, have you any pointers on using a suit at all? As in, where it should be tight, technique in a suit etc... Thanks

Steve said:USAPL allows neoprene knee sleeves in their unequipped competitions - they aren't knee wraps. I thought some feds do. If not, my bad.

JT- In America, knee wraps and belt are classed as raw.
» Identifying Weaknesses (Go to post) | 12-10-2009 @ 22:07
A lot of people tell you to bring up your weak areas to improve yourself as a strength athlete. But how do you actually go about identifying these? Obviously if you're bench/squat/deadlift/overhead is totally out of proportion to your other lifts then that would be a weakness, but how do you know if a certain muscle group is holding you back?... e.g. lower back in deadlift/squat, shoulders in bench etc.. Thanks
