Why can't you do both at the same time? e.g. ME work to increase absolute strength and hypertrophy work to increase muscle mass, better your levers and thus aid in increasing absolute strength?

So you are telling me that a small 9st guy could out bench a 18st guy, who holds more muscle mass, as that muscle is not adding anything? If not, why do people spend time trying to increase their muscle mass? Why is it the strongest guys are usually big?

Your right littler. Tried the first week yesterday, got the first set of 5 but then got 4s and 3s. Either just gonna reduce the percentages by 5-10% or do 5/3/1 instead.

How would this be done, as in how do you build up to that sort of load ? Would it be just a series of small workouts as well as the main ones and just build it up over years? Also, how do you recover if this is done? Seems a mental amount of training but obviously it works. I guess that's the problem with us Westerners
