4ish hey? Well, I shall be there as early as I can, but I probably won't be under a bar until 5 or so Unhappy.

Of course I squat about 100kg lighter than your mate anyway Happy.

Well done boys, sounds like good fun.

Joni: and you should have known it would be "sooner", not "later" Wink.

Is your mate squatting in Pete's corner on Mondays, Andy? I'll be in the rack, and I seem to remember he and I are comfortable at the same height.

I would agree that there's little point using wrist wraps unless you're feeling a strain on your wrists. If you wrap them and leave them on you *will* get numb, though - I just wrap mine for each set I use them on, and yes you want them on the bottom of the hand: http://www.elitefts.com/documents/wrists.htm

Taken in the spirit I know it was meant, Tony, and I do agree. In fact when I saw it back I called it an IPF fail, but others who know better disagreed. Admitedly that was on a tiny phone screen, they might have changed their minds now Happy.

I did wonder myself, Tony - it got caught on my trousers a bit. Joe reckoned it was ok, and I think by the letter it might be as I don't think the bar ever went down, but I agree I might get redded for it. First one was fast and smooth as f**k, though.

It'll do for a gym lift, anyway Happy.

Friday 2nd November, Adlington

Deadlift (in pounds) 132x5x2, 220x3, 300x3, 360x2, 410x1, 460x1, 505 fail (grip at top), 505x1 PB (roughly 229kg).

Speed Bench 20x20, 70x3, 75x3, 80x3, 85x3, 90x3, 95x3, 100x3, 105x3, 110x3, 100x3, 90x3, 80x3, 70x3.

Walked in to a packed gym and asked Alan what I was pulling tonight; "505", he said. OK then!

First attempt very easy, almost locked out when my right hand just let go. I sure know how to make it difficult for myself. Second attempt, no grip problems but a little slower off the deck and a bit more trouble locking out. Form seems to be locked in nicely, though.

Jeff got video of both on his phone; hopefully he'll post them (both if poss) later on. edit in fact the good one's there already! Thanks man!/edit

So, I think deadlifts move to Mondays now after squatting, and Friday will focus on the clean and push press, trying for 100kg before Christmas.

If you already have a PA set up, you could get competitors to email an mp3 clip in and have a laptop or something. Shouldn't be too hard.

LOL, beautiful.

Andy - I wonder if the fact that you can't "grind" an OL heavy single, but a near-max PL single is all about grind, might explain some of the difference in worldview we're seeing here? Also, the way you train - "training not straining" and all that - is quite different to the Westside-inspired way so many PL trainers pound near-max singles every session.

I agree about the instinctive training to some extent too, but I can also see the point that if you wait until you're already suffering then you'll probably take longer to recover and have more niggles. If, say, Iain has found that when he trains hard for five weeks his way he tends to get stale and hurt, then it makes sense to always take a backoff after four even if he feels good that day.

Thanks guys. The 75x3 p/cl is actually equal to my best for three (since I'm still catching them standing bolt upright!), but they were piss easy. I was sure I was going to get 80x3, but then I could barely get the bar off the ground!

Hayden mate, everytime I look at the banner I cant help thinking that Paul is really pissed off because he has to stand next to you. You can smile away, but seriously, the guy aint happy. I think he's been talking $$$'s with Rick too.

It wouldnt surprise me if the f**king hole is already dug manEek

D'you know, I read this earlier today and couldn't work out what you meant. I'm a thick bas***d sometimes.

I don't accept payment in dollars at the moment; hard currencies only Happy.

I loved Gustav saying to Alan as he left that these had been the best two training sessions of his life. I can well believe it, too!

So, now I know what happens when Bolton are at home on a training night. I spend 30 f**king minutes at the roundabout due to f**kers queueing all the way round it and not letting people going the other way out. Kill them all, say I.

Next time, I head north out of Adders and hit the M61 that way.

Wednesday 31st October, Adlington

Bench 20x20, 70x5, 90x5, 100x5, 110x5, 120x5, 127.5x5 PB, 130x5 PB, 100x14.

Incline Smith Bench 60x5, 80x5, 85x5, 90x5

Triceps Pressdown (in lbs) 55x5, 82.5x5, 97.5x5, 112.5x5

Power clean + push press 50x3+3, 60x3+3, 70x3+3, 75x3+3, 80xf,1,f (no press attempted).

Tank suddenly emptied at 80 Happy.

The 127.5 bench set was comically easy, so we did the 130, which wasn't hard but wasn't going to be bettered today. I think we go to 135 next week - the question is the route. Joe - does 70, 90, 105, 120, 135 sound sensible? What do you recommend?

I no longer have a bench triple PB.
