just came back from helvellyn! really nice place, was really positively suprised.

All the best with it, enjoy!

is that bald guy doing the race as well?

The lakes are lovely aren't they Happy

It's not a race luckily - just an enduro ride with friends. I'm feeling full of a cold today so I may even have to pull out Unhappy No place to be sick on top of a moutain with a 33lb bike on your shoulders.

Nope the bald guy isn't coming up - although he has just got himself a new bike and is storming ahead of everyone else Grin

Right - I did the Helvellyn ride and carried the 32 lb bike plus heavy rucksack on my back all the way up Gisburn pass and Dollywagon Pike to nearly get blown off the ridge in the 50 mile an hour winds and hail. However, all this endurance effort would have been well worth it for the descending - except I managed to come off 1/4 of the way down the first descent and break my brake lever. Front one in all - so that was the end of most of my riding and I had to push it most of the way back down Angry

However, I will be going back in September to do it all again - hopefully with a fully functioning bike Tongue

Anyway - I haven't been able to get to the gym all week - but have managed a couple of sessions at home. Normally I struggle to get anywhere near the same weights at home (I like to kid myself that mine are heavy) but it wasn't too bad considering. I think I have lost yet more weight as I just haven't been wanting to eat a great deal lately. However, had a pretty good squat session again tonight so it aint all bad. Prolly should make an effort to deadlift again at some point in the near future.

TUESDAY
Bench - warm up 20 min cycle on hills on bike
W/U with dumbells and 3 sets 10 with bar
25 kg: 8, 8
30 kg: 8
35 kg: 4, 4, 4, 4

Rows and push press

THURSDAY
Squat day
Warm up free squats - felt really good considering how crap I had been feeling today.
Bar 10, 10
30 kg: 5
40 kg: 5 (was flying up)
45 kg: 5
50 kg: 5, 5
60 kg: 5, 5, 5, 5 - all felt pretty deep and apart from the third set, were flying up.

Core stuff

Goodness knows where that squat session effort came from Grin

Um, well, um - yeah not alot of lifting going on here again. Managed to train a couple of times - bit of bench and deadlifting but so unspectacular I can't be arsked with writing it up. Have completely lost my apetite again this week - but there is a small bonus. Not only would I defo make the 52 kg class - chinups are so bloody easy

More cycling tommorow - first attempt at a proper downhill course - with uplift Grin So no bloody riding to the top of the hill. How happy am I? All the fun without the CV Grin Grin Grin

Um, well, em - still doing lots of cycling Grin

Survived the uplift day (just about) - just three crashes and a smashed up helmet Roll-Eyes

Have been doing a bit of weights - bit of benching which is going nowhere, but squats seem to be creeping up still. This is last nights session:

Warm-ups with free squats then
20 kg: 10, 10, 10
30 kg: 5
40 kg: 5
45 kg: 5
50 kg: 3
55 kg: 3
60 kg: 3
65 kg: 3
70 kg: 1, 1, 1 - decided I should prolly try and lift something half decent - all easy enough. Was training on my own but sure they were all depth

Front squats
20 kg: 3, 3
30 kg: 3
40 kg: 3
50 kg: 1 - I think this is a PB?? - was easy enough there's more there
40 kg: 3

Push pressing - dont think my shoulders are ever going to be ok but just grateful I can puch press anything again
20 kg: 5, 5, 5, 5
30 kg: 3, 3, 3

Nice work on the squats, is that the most you've done at your current bodyweight?

you mean you don't know - unforgivable Tongue

Did some CGBP tonight

20 kg: 10, 10, 10
25 kg: 5
30 kg: 5
32.5 kg: 5
35 kg: 5 (I didn't make them look hard, nope, not a bit Roll-Eyes )

Trained at Sugden last night - heck that was a bit of a shock........I always forget it looks like a war zone....plates everywhere, dumbells everywhere, benches falling apart. But not many people (guess it's the hols).

Had an alright session really - did a bit of front squatting, chins and pushpress. Finally starting to see very slow gains in push press now my shoulders are so much better.

Won't be doing any proper lifting til september though cos i'm off mountainbiking in the Alps at the end of august Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

....after which i'll be too skint to mountainbike much so I really will start lifting heavy again (honest)

Ooooh ooh nearly time to go kill myself down a big mountainside. Heck I can't wait.

Have trained at sugden a couple of times really (prolly more dangerous than mountainbiking in the Alps - I nearly forget to tighten the ends of the Oly bar before squatting - it was just about to fall off as usual. And there isn't a single bench left with all the bolts in Eek ). Despite still being a bit on the skinnyminny side I managed 124 kg for 3 sets of 8 easily on the leg press and a bit of front and back squats. And lots of chins (being lighter definately has it's avantages there).

No serious lifting this week or next, but I'll be starting a new routine in squats when I get back the following week. They seem to be trundling along nicely so am just going to focus on them for a bit and see if I can squeeze out a PB before the end of October. Not unlikely. Cool

Dammit I miss the sugden.
Unhappy
If you were to train with me, Baz and MrSmall come September time we could have the second wave of Sugden Barbell together in no time. I think you could overtake Baz's total pretty quickly anyway. :P

Sounds good - I'll prolly be about in Manc a bit more 'cause we seem to be picking up a fair bit of work oop North.

Having some decent spotters around would be useful (normally I get assisted from the first rep - I guess 'cause im a girl Roll-Eyes Roll-Eyes )

Brief update - I survived the Alps in one piece and came back planning to start lifting heavy to get that squat PB before the end of the year as planned. However, as usual, nothing in my life runs smooth and I came off the bike at the weekend in Bristol of all f**king places Roll-Eyes

So now I have a broken and wired thumb and am out for the forseeable future. Although I will be trying to find a gym in Brum with a decent leg press so I don't loose it completely over the recuperating weeks.

Any suggestions for useful stuff I can do with only one arm would be much appreciated! I've resorted to squats and lunges with a backpack full of weights this week, but it isn't enough.

Here's the x-rays:

Dear M jo! that does look a wee bit painful.
How long do you think it will take to heal? Sometimes life is s**t.
I see Adam appears to be doing a lot better in his training. Remember you are al;ways welcome to join in with me when I am there at MX.

All the best.

I was going to write something witty (?) about girls that don't have the use of both hands, but maybe another time. In the meantime, heal soon, get leg pressing with a vengeance, and come back fresh and enthusiatic.
