After 2 days off the gym due to circumstances at work (too much work not enough money) I thought I better get a training session in today so I dragged my lazy arse and make the what should be short journey to Hercules gym but thanks to town traffic and some stupid, over priced farmers show at the end of my road it took nearly a bloody hour!! There's commitment for you Grin

First up was the dreaded log press! Haven't done this many times and can't get the hang of it but needs must, here is how it went.

Log Press -

82kg x 1
92kg x 1
97kg x 1 Equal PB
102kg x F
102kg x F
102kg x F
82kg x 3 Reps PB
82kg x 3

The last attempt at 102kg was the closest and felt like it was there but was so gassed by then I didn't have the fight to lock it. Was happy with the 82kg reps as with every rep it felt like my technique was getting better.

Strict Press -

70kg x 1
80kg x 1
90kg x F PB attempt
90kg x F
85kg x 1 equal PB

Reverse Pec Dec -

40kg x 10
60kg x 8
80kg x 8
100kg x 4

First time ever doing this and I quite liked it, hits my rear delts like nothing before and could feel it straight away.

Lateral Raises -

16kg x 8
18kg x 8
20kg x 5

Not my best or heaviest session but my shoulders definitely felt it, was happy with my technique and felt like there is more there but a week of late nights, early mornings and long days at work have finally caught up with me. On the plus side I made it through a whole pressing session without dropping or bending a bar Grin

The weight of the log is 82.8, and 83.0 with spring collars on.

Indeed it was mate plus I was training solo and with my current habit of damaging things I didn't fancy attempting and most probably failing getting the stones out by myself.

Thank you for informing me I've been selling myself short so that actually makes my PB 98kg and I was attempting 102.8kg PB.

After looking at my journal goals I have realised that I have hit my goal of a 180kg squat this year so I am going to push the boat out and set my new squat target at 220kg by the end of the year Happy

Tuesday 17th July

After a couple days off, would say of rest but spending the day walking round Westfields shopping centre with the missus in shoes that are slowly trying to cut your feet off is anything but restful!

As my press seems to be going no where fast I decided that should be the order of the day.

Strict Press -

60kg x 5
70kg x 5
75kg x 5
85kg x 3 Push Press
95kg x 3 Push press reps PB


Close Grip Bench Press -

95kg x 5
115kg x 3
135kg x 3
145kg x 1 New PB


Upright Row

60kg x 5
60kg x 8


Lateral Raises

15kg x 8
20kg x 6
22.5kg x 4


Front Raises

20kg x 8
22.5kg x 5


One arm Dumbbell press - As many reps floor to overhead in 60 secs

40kg x 9


Happy with that session my shoulders were still feeling it a bit from saturdays pressing so felt like there could have been a couple more reps in there but to be honest I was being lazy Grin Very Happy with my close grip bench PB I seem to be finding this easier than standard bench press at the moment and my numbers are going up quicker as there's only 5kg difference between the 2 now.
The DB press was for what I thought would be fun and my pathetic attempt at fitness and it was harder than I thought and not as much fun!

Hopefully so mate I would like a higher deadlift than 260kg but thought that was more realistic? Same with all my goals really Grin

I finally mastered the art of using straps so all reps were done DOH.

Bent over barbell row

Low Cable Row

120kg x 5
135kg x 3


Was really happy with the session Grin Best deadlift session i've had in ages and happy with all my PBs but would have loved that 4th rep on 210kg but it wasn't to be.
