Not sure if he has ever tried it. Although didn't he break the world record for weight for height which is a Highland Games type event.

Wasn't there some very dubious reps allowed on the dumbbell for Phil Pfister that split the points enough to put Poundstone ahead of Misha in the final standings. Very dodgy, you wouldn't get that sort of thing at the Olympics!!

Pretty much this.

much as I love misha, he is a class apart from Z and shaw. he can compete with the best at the events hes good at, but his weak events loose him too many points. I dont know what his chances wouldve been like of getting a gold medal but id imagine theyd be better than his chances of winning wsm.

Will you are probably right but this is when he wasn't taking it that serious(which is how it seemed to be) but would be different if he trained 100% for strongman like Z & Shaw, that is when Misha would be more than a match for them for sure.

I agree Mike. Klokov is text book and Akkaev is what Alan Fairclough would call a nail bender, rough as ar****les and strong as f**k and doesn't give a s**t.

I love them both!

I believe it was Travis, and I can't comment on the quality of the lockouts, haven't watched it for a while.

What I can say is that Misha is a f**king legend! Had the privilege to meet him at the Arnolds last year. We were out drinking with him on the final day of the EXPO. Went to bed feeling pretty rough. Then met him again in the hotel lobby the next morning. He was STILL drinking vodka with the Russian Amateur strongmen!!! I believe that the year he was second at the Arnold he clean and jerked 230ish after a similar drinking session.

Just found this on the Russian Weightlifting Federation site, its a write up of a big event in honour of a former national coach. Lots of dignitories there and its where Misha did the muscle snatch, jerk, squat, deadlift medley that..

VII tournament in weightlifting, in memory of honored coach of Russia, Mikhail Okunev for the prizes of Olympic champion Dmitry Berestov..

The most spectacular and striking number was an address by the strongest man of the country, eight-time champion of Russia, Mikhail Koklyaeva. He demonstrated his heroic power, showing the name of the baton Koklyaeva (broaching 150 kg, due to the push head 220 kg, 270 kg squat, deadlift 320 kg, all in one approach). Then he raised his head above the two athletes, each of which weighed 80 kg.

Interesting that he is quoted as the strongest man in Russia on the national fed's website Unhappy

For the prizes of Olympiuc champion Dmitry Berestov?
What does that mean then?
What is that guy doing these days? There are odd vids of him snatching 190+ from last couple years.

I watched the vid and there really were a bad judging from Odd haugen. Phil Pfister's 6th and 9th rep on dumbell lift were both still unfinished when Haugen gave down mark.
It can see from the vid. 6th rep starts on 5:05 and 9th rep 5:48

Odd's always been a s**t ref ,often giving very dubious lifts ......on the other hand he is a walking legend so we should let the old guy off !!!
