In that comp he did 185/238 I think, and 190/240 the week before but that wasn't an international. What did Akkaev and Klokov do at worlds? 195/232 , 198/232?

Massive loss to the sport. He is the first lifter for generations that has the personality and charisma to become a globally recognised figure in the sport.

In my opinion both the Russian Federation and the IWF have missed a huge opportunity to push the sport to the public at large. If Misha had gone to the Olympics and won (which was obviusly an outside chance) he could quite possibly have come out of the Games as one of the big names that people were talking about and done the sport a whole lot of good.



I am unspeakably sad that it looks like he is going back to Strongman I think it is a massive waste of a great lifter, no disrespect. I hope he now closes the book on his weightlifting career and tears the arse out of the SM scene.

much as I love misha, he is a class apart from Z and shaw. he can compete with the best at the events hes good at, but his weak events loose him too many points. I dont know what his chances wouldve been like of getting a gold medal but id imagine theyd be better than his chances of winning wsm.
