Very dodgy, you wouldn't get that sort of thing at the Olympics!! I think I am right in saying that Poundstone got some pretty friendly lockout calls one year too? I certainly remember it being a marked contrast to Misha, who was made to hold each rep locked and steady. And to return to the original topic, Misha is awesome. To have him back in Strongman is massive. His light-hearted and affable tone has been much missed. Shaw and many others may be articulate, but they lack his charisma and presence, which is invaluable in a sport that fundamentally depends on providing entertainment.

Member 2252, 256 posts SQ 210, BP 140, DL 250600.0 kgs @ 95kgs UnEq | I absolutely love Misha. Fantastic bloke with great charisma, a real asset to the sport - whichever sport it happens to be. One of the guys who has motivated me to get into weightlifting and strongman. I think its a great shame for him that he has been denied the opportunity to compete in a sport he clearly loves by some slightly dubious (corrupt) sporting politics out of our friends in Russia. I hope he manages to turn around some of his SM weaknesses, as he could really be up there. Is there any footage of his last WL outing? Was it the Russian cup or something? Not the one when he injured his quad on the C+J, the next one...

Member 905, 239 posts | I wrote to Misha showing him this thread thinking he would have liked to see the support. He replied generally saying that he has to accept the way things are but hopes that one day things will change.

For those interested/haven't seen before: You can NEVER see this too many times! I wonder if his celebration at the end is just because he lifted well or almost one of defiance, as in "I AM the best you've got" kinda thing cos he must have known for a long time that he's not flavour of the month with the powers that be. Misha, is probably the most man-crushed bloke on Sugden's!

Member 3399, 1 posts | Post Edited: 10.02.2012 @ 16:16 PM by Koklyaev Friends, I am sorry that I have for some reason did not get to participate in the Olympics, but said Russian, "Whatever you do, it will be for the best." So the Olympic bar was only a means for me, but the not goal. Reading your posts I understand what he was doing everything in the sport for a reason. What to do, a Russian (Soviet) regime, in which I have to live, love, work. I hope someday everything will change and we do live in a free country.
