This is intensely difficult and would no doubt change every day, but one possible rough cut:

Steve Vai: Passion and Warfare
Mike Keneally: Dancing
Devin Townsend: Ocean Machine
Hardline: Double Eclipse
Humanimal: humanimal

I'm missing out so many great records... and only one of those was important to me growing up, there are so many more I need!

Teenagely important list:
David Lee Roth: Skyscraper
Whitesnake: 1987
Winger: In the heart of the young
It Bites: Eat me in St Louis
Extreme: Pornografitti

Any of those could still make a current list too!

If I had to take someone elses albums instead of mine, these would be they.

Excellent - I think it's his best album. He really is streets ahead of the likes of Joe Satriani.

David Lee Roth: Skyscraper

Happy I think I prefer the first one, is it 'Eat 'em and smile'? Have you seen pics of Roth recently? It just makes you weep.

Extreme: Pornografitti

Nuno at the peak of his powers, cool. Even if 'Flight of the bumblebee' is a bit of a cheat.

I see you are a man who likes his shredders.

12 monkeys is top quality - I love it Grin and have seen it too many times!

My top 5 films would be

Sin City
The Shining (actually pretty much anything by Kubrick is a masterpiece IMHO!)
Twelve Monkey's
Natural Born Killers
Man Bites Dog

Tannheuser, yeah, I grew up in the Gilbert/Vai/Satriani era and it's one of the reasons I can play a little bit. Jonny - I never attempted to choose my music on those kinds of grounds, to be honest, though I guess it explains your otherwise puzzling choices Wink.

Paul Gilbert - yeah, he's a monster, too.

I'm taking a moratorium on my guitar playing. One long-term hobby too many. Guitar music wise, more recently I've got interested in fusion and I now listen a fair bit to Frank Gambale. The music that really rings my bell is where the piece is so complex and such a headache-inducing racket that I almost can't stand it. Gambale fits the bill nicely.

Very hard to chose just 5 and i will have changed my mind tomorrow

Metallica - Black album. I have played this to death but never get tired of it
Nirvana - Bleach

Korn - Korn
