As I walked into the weight room, the first thing I saw was Little A squatting 260x5. That popping noise was my Adlington cherry.

Monday 12/3, Adlington Barbell

Coan bench week 4.

Bench 120# x6, 170# x3, 102.5kg x8x2 (first reps paused).

Close-grip Bench 90x8, 6+f, 8.

It was at the second set that the much shorter Adlington rest intervals caught me - three or four minutes off and I was ready to go and got the 8 I needed.

Incline Bench 85x8x2.

Incredibly easy, especially after Little A pointed out that in the first set I was not taking enough breath. This could make a big difference to all of my benching.

Partial chins 3x5. Good tonight.

Rows on the prone t-bar thing, whatever was on the bar x10x3. I really liked this machine.

Stretching, talking crap, arriving home at about the time I'd've finished warming up in the Sugden. If it still had a bench, that is.

I could be a convert to this, I really really could.

I enjoyed our race down the M61 Rick. Some crafty manoeuvres by the Love Machine, especially that daring over-take on the outside lane of the M602 slip road.

In the end I think the Punto came through though, because you tried to undertake just before the A57 and ended up getting forced off towards Trafford!?!

TBH I didn't realise it was you I passed on the sliproad Happy. I was just having my usual drive home (clean licence for all 14 years, amazingly).

I always go down through Old Trafford to get home, mate, that's where I wanted to be!

My maneuvers are ok, it's just my velocity that's supralegal Happy.

Wednesday 14/3

Squat Goblet 32.5x5, barbell 60x5, 100x5, 120x5, 135x5x5 PB.

The last two reps of the last set were a little shallow. The rest weren't. These started hardish and stayed pretty hard; I was VERY pleased with it.

Everything else after that is gravy.

DB press 20x8, 37.5x5x5. Not easy, for the first time.

Bench 60x5, 82.5x10x2.

Wide pulldowns 77x8, 105x10x2 (strapped). Down a plate from last week and much better form for it.

Wide seated rows stack+platex10x2 PB. These should have been narrow, I forgot. Very happy with them anyway.

Completely knackered.

Friday 16/3

Jackson deadlifts, week 9 (max). Old PB 195.

Deadlifts 60x8, 100x3, 140x1, 170x1, 190x1, 205x1 PB, 212.5x1 PB.

Got a bollocking from Coach Jackson for not pulling the 170 hard and fast enough. The 190 flew, the 205 was a joke - capped with a big old roar!

I cocked up the 212 by not getting my head up at the start, so it was harder than it needed to be - a slow old pull, but I never doubted it was going.

500kg is now defeated by some distance Grin.

Routine now switches around - main bench day is gonna be Fridays, so:

Coan bench week 5.

Bench 20x8, 60x5, 80x3, 100x1, (all paused), 105x5x2 (first reps paused).

Close-grip Bench 95x5x2.

Incline Bench 87.5x5x2.

All very easy.

We'll squat up to a single and do light bench on probably Monday, then nothing until Friday's bench. Next deads will be Wednesday week - not yet decided whether to take a light week or hit another Jackson cycle straight away.

On the happy side, yes, since you ask.

220 next cycle, and 500 the cycle after... that's the plan. Not that I'd complain if it comes early.

Monday 19/3

A little fun workout post-DL-maxout, last until I start back properly on Friday. Plan was to squat some easy singles, then do the Coan light bench, then go home barely warmed up.

Squat Goblet 30x5, barbell 60x5, 100x5, 120x1, 140x1, 150x1.

These all felt pretty easy, but right from the 120 onwards they were slow. Probably that's due to squatting a 5x5 PB and pulling two big singles PBs in the last five days, or something. Decided against 160 on the grounds that it might take forever to go up, and I couldn't be bothered on what's supposed to be an easy day.

Bench 60x8 paused, 82.5x10x2.

Worked very hard on setup and leg drive here. Reps very easy indeed.

Stretching, 10 minutes discussing diet with Adam. Diet does not seem to be making me hugely weak or tired, at least so far.
