'There was also a sausage in my mouth.' Member 2477, 16481 posts SQ 190, BP 130, DL 235555.0 kgs @ 83kgs UnEq | I'm going to be making some boards tomorrow. Supprisingly I could find very little information about this so I thought I'd ask the sugden bros, what size wood do I need (haha) and also am I best off nailing them together or what? Thanks

Hey mate, my name is Paul Dudley Member 632, 3628 posts SQ 200, BP 155, DL 282.5637.5 kgs @ 77kgs UnEq | A 'Board' is 1.5" I think mate. Hope that helps somewhat.

some nice relaxing jazz. Member 77, 12599 posts SQ 265, BP 165, DL 280710.0 kgs @ 93kgs UnEq | Just get some 2x4. I glued and then tapped mine. Lasted 5 years now and still fine. One thing I would do again is if too cut the bottom boasrd longer so people can hold it easier on the chest.

Member 2342, 280 posts SQ 210, BP 150, DL 255615.0 kgs @ 100kgs UnEq | For some reason, a '2x4' is actually 1.5 inches by 3 inches, so one board is 1.5 inches in depth. 2x8s are generally what people seem to use, I gather.

tight in the hole Member 2057, 3121 posts SQ 205, BP 140, DL 260605.0 kgs @ 95kgs UnEq | yeah, 2x4s are actually 1.5x3.5 inches due to the planing. 2x4 orginally referred to the timber's rough cut size and the name has just stuck. I made mine out of 1 board about 2 feet long, and 3 which are 1 foot long - then put velcro on them so they can be stuck together to be 1, 2, 3 or 4 boards.

Grandad Goatse Member 2494, 5035 posts SQ 120, BP 110, DL 125355.0 kgs @ 67kgs UnEq | I used 2x6, which like already mentioned is more like 1.5x5.5. I made a 1, 2 and 3 board. I cut 3 the pieces to 24" and then cut 3 more to 15", and then I cut handles into the 3 24" pieces that are 9" by 2". Then I screwed the 15" pieces to the handled boards were needed. Here's a pic of my 3 board: http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu342/reddotvintage/3Board....

Haha that did cross my mind but in the ashton B and Q they don't seem to sell glue so I just taped it up and then screwed them together. I'm using them for the first time today and if I somehow get impaled by some screws and puncture my lungs, I'll probably not let anyone know because I'll be half dead

Hey mate, my name is Paul Dudley Member 632, 3628 posts SQ 200, BP 155, DL 282.5637.5 kgs @ 77kgs UnEq | What is your reason for wanting to use boards mate? Thinking of trying some shirted stuff or just keen to improve your lockout strength? I mean no offense by this but with a 100kg bench i'm sure that your time would be better served by just plain old benching working on slow steady progression and reinforcing technique. People are starting to use boards, bands, chain, boxes... etc at far too early a stage in their training I think when they can eek out so much more just nailing the basics. However, I'm a bit s**t at most things and don't really know what I'm on about so maybe just talking out of my arse, this is just my opinion on the matter.

I just added in the fact that i'm no expert so he didn't take what I said as truth without exploring his options/listening to others more experienced than me. I'll give you some advice, 'pissing around' with your diet is probably what caused you to weigh 120kg+ but still be weak as piss, you really should cut that out cupcake.
