Also, what's the easiest (read:cheapest) way to get from Manchester Piccadilly to osg?

probably train to ashton under lyne ...then a 10 minute walk

Mate u have to get a train from manc victoria to ashton or piccadilly to stalybridge to ashton otherwise its about 14quid for a taxi from piccadilly

Train from Piccadilly stops at Guide Bridge which is a similarcwalk from the Ashton station . Do a google walking map and follow it like a tourist .

Gone back to Manc from OSG on the train a few times. Easy enough.

What we did was Manchester Victoria to Ashton station and a short walk.
