His total included a 380 squat!! The Ukranian finishing in third places benched a WR 285 kilos!! Crazy, crazy figures! No British men in this class.

Does f*ck all for SugdenBarbell.co.uk Member 1, 7173 posts SQ 182.5, BP 110, DL 205497.5 kgs @ 107kgs UnEq Administrator | Mens 100 kilos Nothing too amazing here compared to the results in the 90s, the top two were Russians and the winner had a 997.5 total. No Brits Mens 110 kilos Winner Russian again 1050 total comfortably ahead of rest of field with 395/275/380. Mens 125 kilos Two big British names in this - Clive Henry and Dean Bowring. Clive came second to American Tony Cardella - Clive went 425/260/322.5 (1007.5), Cardella went 390/265/367.5 to win it with his deadlift and a 1022.5 kilo total - so actually quite a long way behind the winner in the 110s. Looks like Clive mustn't have been feeling too good on the squats as there was a lot of talk about him hitting 1000lbs here, still silver a great achievement. It looks like Dean Bowring bombed out on bench, which is again a pity cause he did 312.5 in squad training recently apparently (the best British bench in competition being 310 by Dave Wightman). Supers Another Russian win, with a big 435 squat and 1092.5 total - 280 bench and 377.5 deadlift - Bondarenko Vladimir, I think there have been a few vids of this monster on YouTube. Brad Gillingham finished second with 1052.5 including what looks to be the competitions biggest deadlift of 390. Jim Blanchflower finished 11th with 370/270/300 and 940 total, not quite upto his usual standards but he has been battling a few injuries I hear so should be very pleased with his performance. Ove Lehto the bench monster finished third place with a bench press of 317.5. The biggest bench seems to have been by Frederick Svennson with 330 at 139 kilos. One Sexy MoFo Member 101, 2470 posts | Some crazy lifts. Truly crazy. I can't get my head round how much some of these 90kg lads are lifting. It doesn't so much inspire me as make me want to quit lifting altogether!

Scotbasher - forever Member 59, 2115 posts | I had a chat with Jim the other day about the contest. He reported that a number of people were suffering with the altitude (venue was at 5000ft above sea level!) a few lifters were using small oxygen cylinders during the contest. I will encourage Jim to write a short report on the contest so you get the info first hand.
