Does f*ck all for SugdenBarbell.co.uk Member 1, 7173 posts SQ 182.5, BP 110, DL 205497.5 kgs @ 107kgs UnEq Administrator | Good luck to all the Brits who will be attending the IPF world championships - a list of all lifters is available here: http://results.powerlifting.org/ipf?eventid=2007AUT2 Jim Blanchflower will be doing battle in the super heavies, best of luck to him. Clive Henry and Dean Bowring will be doing battle in the 125s - I suspect we will see a World Record squat from Clive all being well. And maybe a new British Record on the bench press from Bowring who did a 312.5 in training I believe. Plenty of other British lifters are there, including Marie Thornton who has competed in quite a few North west comps. It looks like the biggest challenge will be from the Russians - some of their previous totals are huge, but hopefully we will get some medals! The IPF will be offering free video streaming of the event for the first time; you can access it from this link: http://www.powerlifting-ipf.com/streaming.htm Best of luck everyone!

Mens 56kg and 60kg classes: http://www.powerlifting-ipf.com/worlds/woropenpl2007/men.htm A few highlights include a 700 total at 55kg with a 242.5 deadlift. Pretty much 4.5 x bodyweight! GB lifter Pat Constantine finished 7th in 56kg class with 580 total. Womens 48kg class: http://www.powerlifting-ipf.com/worlds/woropenpl2007/women.htm Highlights include a 197.5 squat and 185.0 deadlift at 47kilos by the winner. There was also a 122.5 bench by a second place Japanese lifter! The Japanese really do have some amazing bench pressers, I would love to know how they train we don't hear much about them. From what I have seen they usually have fantastic arches.

Old Age Presser Member 75, 7745 posts SQ 0, BP 200, DL 200400.0 kgs @ 105kgs Eq | Phil's had a bad back and a very limited training period leading to the worlds, so his deadlift was well down and he was benching 190+ back in February. Think he got a silver in the squat.

There's been a Strongbow shortage in Swansea that has badly effected Phil's prep, the bad back is a smoke screen.

Scotbasher - forever Member 59, 2115 posts | Post Edited: 17.10.2007 @ 23:50 PM Phils big benchpresses were done at a heavier bodyweight if I recall. Spoke to Jim today in Austria he reported that judging was very strict, Phil was given 2 rerack signals as they were not happy with his start position ie foot placement or buttocks. This left him almost out of time.Apparently there is a lot of entertainment at the venue of an evening: A miss fitness contest, strength display by Marius Pudzianowski and a bodybuilding guest pose from Markus Rhul.
